| Sorry for replying to myself, just wanted to clarify for those who are unaware, Dre mentored Em through his early career and made him into much of what he is today, hence my initial argument. Dre spits some sick shit: fact. The end. | |

Anyone who says Eminem has no talent also makes the claim that Dre and others that have been with the posse have no talent. Since I don't believe anyone is really ready to back that claim up I'm gonna go ahead and say Eminem does have talent. Just because someone raps about something doesn't mean thats what they believe. Em plays a lot off of the popularity he's gained for sounding like a "badass" on record, but if you look at his earlier material its apparent that what has turned into badass just started out as a rags to riches story from the hood. I believe that a good portion of his work is meant to be satirical, just a facade, and this fact is also supported by the image he presents of himself in public. A few years ago he teamed up with the openly bisexual Elton John for a performance of "Stan" (which I would also like to add made rolling stone's top 500 songs of all time), clearly showing he has no aversion to people of different sexual preference. Likewise he WAAAY overhypes his family problems all the time, anyone who looks at his music for proof of what kind of father he is needs to realize that 90% of what Eminem says is just clear bullshit for the hell of it. At worst I think it would be fair to say Eminem presents all his ideas in a Nihilistic fashion, choosing to ignore what the public thinks, and saying what he wants because he can. Once again his EXPLICIT mention of this fact REPEATED times on the album further assert that he is in fact NOT serious. In conclusion, Eminem is in fact a fantastic rapper who utilizes a lot of musical and lyrical technique not even touched upon by many other famous rappers today. The difference between him and many other TALENTED (not necessarily famous) rappers is that he oversteps the boundaries of what people think is safe to say on record. He wants his voice to be heard so he does what it takes to achieve that goal. "Will Smith don't gotta cuss in his raps to sell records, well I do..." (The Real Slim Shady) I could quote a bunch of other stuff as well to support all my arguments, that one just stuck out too much to me to not mention. His message is clear: there is no message. |

Man, i wish people read this far... Everyone who mentioned that this song is about a bar in Australia is absolutely right, but thats just a lead in for the metaphor of starting anew, having all your negativity and frustration washed away by that cool, refreshing, and renewing rainfall. It's much to the theme of the entire album, that idea of purity and that we all have an opportunity for a second chance at life. I would also like to add that this is my favorite album ever that anyone has ever made. I have been listening to it constantly for about a month now, over and over again, and it just doesn't get old. Every time i listen to a song, i discover something new about it that i love. The chili peppers are all amazing musicians. |

First off, this song is indeed awesome. I think this song is mainly about getting over problems from the past. "Scar tissue that I WISH you saw" indicates that he has gotten past his problem, and all traces of it are gone as well. Also, as the verses progress, the mood changes, almost as if we are being walked through a certain event or difficulty that this song is focusing around. In this case, a relationship. The first and second verses are somewhat upbeat sounding, wording-wise. As the song moves to the third verse, the mood moves to something more painful. Then the first verse gives off a sense of peacefulness, this is where the conflict has been almost completely resolved, with the line "I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl". The last verse sort of brings everything back to where everything started which means that the status quo has been resored to its original state. Also, I don't know if anyone here has seen the music video, but it involves them driving down a road, which makes sense with the progression of time and how 'time heals all wounds'. |

| Simon and Garfunkel – Mrs. Robinson Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Prisoner: yes this song was originally called Mrs Roosevelt, but only because it was actually written about Eleanor Roosevelt, but when the final version was recorded, it was changed to Mrs. Robinson to fit with the movie The Graduate. As for Joe DiMaggio: His name was used simply because it fit better than any other name (it had the correct number of syllables). Those lines were used to exemplify how the media alters and misrepresents how we percieve our heroes, especially since at the time presidential scandals appeared in the news quite often (a reference back to Eleanor Roosevelt, who is (in case you didn't know) the wife of president Franklin D. Roosevelt). This song doesn't actually have anything to do with the movie, other than the fact that it appeared in it. | |
