Here is what I can get from this song followed by a general line by line breakdown. I think this song is all about a relationship with a girl who doesnt take it seriously. She is almost though not quite using the guy. But you can really get what she is doing... read the line by line analysis. It could be ten, but then again, I can't remember half an hour since a quarter to four. ^Ive been with you this whole day, I cant remember how long its been, Ive been with you the whole day...*this shows the love that the guy feels to the girl, spending a long time with her...* Throw on your clothes, the second side of Surfer Rosa, And you leave me with my jaw on the floor. ^Basically, you look so beautiful even with your clothes on, the fact that she is putting clothes on implies that they might have had sex. This also shows love on the guys part, I even think you are beautiful with your clothes on... Ive got a very clever Idea about the Crutch part in the beginning of the song... Cast off the crutch that kills the pain Ok. When we get injured we get a crutch. The most common injury that you sustained and needed a crutch would be a leg break. Leg breaks often happen from people falling. What does the crutch do? The crutch *Supports us* and takes away the pain. It helps us MOVE FORWARD without the pain of the injury/fall. But the crutch cant be with us forever. and we need to *cast it off* Therefore what I can interperet from this lyric is that we as a society have fallen and 'injured' ourselves. Now we need a crutch to help us keep moving on. I believe the crutch is government, the crutch can make us walk but think about the image of walking with a crutch! Its slower and more tedious then walking without one. So we need to throw the crutch away, and walk on our own to feet, becuase we cant rely on the government forever and we need to take over and manage things ourselves. We need the YOUTH to take over and walk without the crutch... Sorry about this, this is my first ever post, I might have read to deeply into the line but I seriously think It makes good sense if you think about it. |
