The aforementioned "Chariot" is a band Andy Hull was associated with before. I presume that because of the religious tones in these lyrics, he's saying that no matter what some people think, he really does devoutly believe in God. Nothing people say can make him not believe in God. |

I think this song is very autobiographical. He's writing it as if he were a fan of Jeff Tweedy. The fan thinks that he has a perfect life, full of fame and such, but in reality, the artist is lonely. |

I have concluded on several ideas that lead me to believe that this has album has one central story, with several characters, all of which are mentioned in the story told in the liner notes. I believe there are a couple instances of altar egos and schitzophrenia. |

One of my favorite Dylan lines is: "The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense. Take what you have gathered from coincidence"
He subtly uses the word "better", in a different form, as a reference to a gambler. Also, that everything is life is by coincidence, exactly how everytime you win a card game, it is strictly by chance. |
