| The Fray – Some Trust Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I had to listen to this song a few times(and I love it) to get a general idea of what I think it means. I think it's about an average person, going through everything they do in the same way, and always dreaming about having something just a little bit better. They put their trust in God, in their love for another, in marriage, in diamonds(material wealth) that it will lead them to a better life than the one they're living. As for the ones who just get away, I think that has a bad connotation. I don't think you can trust in nothing, because even if you trust in yourself you still have trust in something...maybe those who just "get away" are the ones who just give up on life, and commit suicide, or resort to anything in which they're living their life in a slow hell. | |
| The Fray – How To Save A Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song can be about anything in which a young life is in danger because of an addiction or depression or anything, that can ultimately result in suicide. It's told from the past tense, like the voice lost a friend, and now he's saying, this is what i should have done...this is how it should have happened...i would have done this...but i didn't know then how to save a life. almost like a lesson to the world i think. I love the Fray so much. They use simple words, but it's so eloquently arranged, it's incredible. The simple phrase, " Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend," gets me whenever I listen to it. Because as a friend, you feel devoted to your other friends, and want nothing more than to just help them, and when you can't...it's a horrible thing to go through. |

| Good Charlotte – Hold On Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I love this song. For me, it's kind of like going back in time after the suicide happened and saying, "Just hold on." I think it perfectly captures the anger/frustration of 'survivors' in the lyrics: What are you looking for? What are you waiting for? Do you know what you're doing to me? And then it goes back to the pleading of, "hold on..." That's how it really feels, for me at least. To 'survive' a suicide is such a whirlwind of emotions, you're angry then content, then incredibly sad, and this song just has it all. |

| John Mayer – Waiting on the World to Change Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think I have a different picture of this song than everyone else. I don't think it's so political, I think it's almost like an anthem for this nation's youth. Young people, (mostly 15-21) have A LOT to say. They're a lot smarter than so many older adults perceive them, and they're just misunderstood. They're not given the opportunity to excel and speak their minds about the world, and yet they're patronized for not doing enough. I think John Mayer's message is really: We're the future of tomorrow, start listening to what we have to say, and until then, we'll be waiting. | |
| John Mayer – Daughters Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I really don't see how people think it's mysoginistic. He's by no means saying women are weak. By the "boys you can break..." stanza, he's saying boys tend to take the confrontation approach. They'll explode, they'll be the ones to say, "Screw it, it's BS, I don't give," etc. Girls by nature are sensitive. Girls are soft hearted, and bad things in the past will scar them because they're by nature, much more sensitive than guys. The line, "but boys would be gone without one thing: A woman's, good, good heart," reminds me of a quote that Abigail Adams said to her husband: "If it weren't for the women of the world, all the men would have killed each other by now." I'm a firm believer in that quote. Women take a much more rational approach to things. And the, "oh behalf of every man..." stanza, I really like that part. The impact that good fathers have on their daughters is inexpressable. A little girl's hero is her daddy, and though the way the girl shows her affection changes as she gets older, the love for them never changes. I've never met a girl with a good father who didn't love him entirely like John Mayer describes in the song. |
