I think this song is a story of taking someone for granted because he has nothing to offer you. The name Jesus is used as a contrast for the way that the biblical Jesus became such a famous figure, while Jesus the Mexican boy is just as kind and generous, but due to his circumstances he will never get the same respect while he is alive or be remembered after he is gone. To me this song is a reminder that every person has equal worth, no matter what cards they have been dealt in life. |

To me this song is about being content with what you have. I think when he says "we were the people that we wanted to know, and we're the places that we wanted to go," he is referring to a more innocent time in his life, maybe high school or college, when he wasn't preoccupied with worrying about the future and was just happy with his friends and everyone else in his life. When he says "it was not the intention but we let it all go..." it's a turning point in the song when he and his friends became more realistic about their plans and their life. Later, when he says "All this scrambling around Hunting high and then low Looking for a face, love Or somewhere to go I hardly have places that I need to go Because you�re the places that I wanted to go," he's talking about much later looking back on his life and realizing that he misses that carefree time and wants to find a new "face, love or somewhere to go" to fill the void left when he and his friends grew apart. Overall, he realizes that the material things such as making career plans and making the right "connections" is useless if you aren't surrounded by the people you love. This is a really inspirational song, because even though the story is sad it helps me remember how important it is to live in the moment and be happy with what you have. |

'you drop a coin into the sea and shout out please come back to me' This is saying that he (likely the male vocal) has made a wish (like throwing a coin into a well), but wants to take back that wish. However, since he has dropped it into the 'sea,' he can't take it back and has to live with the consequences. To me it seems like this wish is his hope to get into her pants. he seduces her, gets the 'pleasure part' and the 'after shock,' then begins to 'fall apart,' feeling guilty for what he has done, which ties back to the part about how he wishes he could take back what he wished for. |

To me this is about a man who is in love with a girl who exists only in his imagination. It almost seems that he has some sort of romance with her in his head. (the wide-eyed flutter and the violins) His doctor tells him that she is not real, so he tries to forget about her ("Natalie, it turns out that your were just my sick little fantasy: So I tried to pry you from my head") When he does this he realizes he can't go on without loving her: ("It appears as if I've injured myself severely") So I think the conclusion of this song is the man deciding that even if she is imaginary he will not let go of his love for her. |

i LOVE this band! anyway.. the song is about a girlfriend (probably) who was out all night and he had gotten really worried about her (I've been worried for hours When all you had to do was call). apparently this has been happening a lot with her and he's getting fed up. The more it happens the more he understands that she is probably safe wherever she is, but he is getting bored and annoyed with having to worry about where she is all the time. (Oh I've crossed this road before, And while familiar is helpful.... It's getting old.) he is really confused and doesnt know what to do about her, and he is kind of split in two about how to deal with it ( If there's a way to stay in control, someone let me know, Because I cant even waste breath unless my other half knows) hope that made sense :) |

"everything looks perfect from far away" I think this line is really powerful when you think about it.. i dont know if this is how it was intended in the song, but i think standing alone it means that people might look perfect and flawless but really when you get to know them you realize that they are just as flawed as you are. |

it's about her boyfriend being the only person who can hold her down when she's being unpredictable and can put up with her better than anyone. "My image is slipping oh, your memory is gripping it this is my breath in your lungs " that part is telling about how he is "swept away by her current" and she has to try to break her own ways to be the strong one and save him. its very metaphoric and can get kind of confusing at times, but this is my favorite song by this band. |
