Such a cool song, pun intended. But it really does make me feel like I'm sitting inside, in front of an A/C window unit running on full blast, outside of the confines of sweltering heat. i can almost smell the freon now. |

Love this song! It sounds like he wants to make a break and run from a way of life he's become enmeshed in that's sucking up his soul, and threatens to separate him from someone he truly loves; and would eventually lead to the death of that relationship. He can see the danger of the storm clouds coming more and more frequently, and he knows he cant/won't be strong enough to endure them all without damage, so he feels the only way he can escape this shadow of certain doom is to remain one step ahead with this person every time it (that feeling of losing all control) presents itself. It seems like it's an uphill battle he could end up losing if he's not very careful, and he knows it too well. |

Good call. The title with "ROLLING" may have subconsciously triggered the Rolling Stone's tune as they were creating it.

I was talking specifically about the feel of the song on my first listen. I hadn't read the lyrics when I posted the comment (which is unusual for me), but I still stand by what I said. I think the truth IS beautiful. It may not always be pretty, but there it is anyway…The truth. And she does it in an unpretentious way. What about the rest of the lyrics? The simple fact that she's not afraid to put her cards on the table and tell someone she has feelings for that she knows she's basically being/has been used by them takes a lot of guts in my opinion. Her vulnerability and honesty here are what make the song beautiful to ME. It's not always about the lyrics either…it's the emotion she conveys between the lines. |

This is such a beautiful song. Wow. Makes me feel the way I feel when I listen to Johnny Cash's American Album IV…His version of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" came to mind first. |

I think the line stemmed from the fact that Shaun had submitted almost 50 songs to the label for FBINS, and they were still asking for more; like what he'd already given them wasn't good enough. He was feeling the pressure of that and dealing with a lot of personal issues at the same time, and it was really beginning to overwhelm him. |

RE: The meaning of "48 ways to say":
I think it was because he said he had submitted almost 50 songs to the label for FBINS, and they were still asking for more; like what he'd already given them wasn't good enough. He was feeling the pressure and dealing with a lot of personal issues at the same time, and it was beginning to overwhelm him. |

This was the song written for a soundtrack the film producers decided not to use, so they decided to put it on the album. I think it was for The Chronicles of Narnia if I'm not mistaken… ;) |

It's been at least 5 minutes…I still don't know what to say; and he's probably written three more by now. |

This is early material. They've progressed in their style. I think you'd find their album "The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me" or even their newer, more experimental album "Daisy" EXTREMELY original. NO punk, whatsoever. I've only been a fan since these releases. They're my favorite band. Listen to "At The Bottom," "Jesus Christ," or "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows."…Yawn free originality IMO. |

I could be wrong, but I think this is another way to tell a girlfriend that the more she b*tches, complains, and places all the blame on him in their relationship, the harder it is going to be for him to find her sexually attractive. Her contempt makes him lose all interest (as I'm sure it would most people). Thus, the line:
"If you keep talking that way
No "BODY'S" going to find it "HARD."'
Voila!!
I love a great songwriter!! |
