Mystik Spiral – Psychic Refugee Lyrics 19 years ago
he was just pissed off about his chaotic family barging in. he wants peace and quiet but he can't get any.

I think it also ties into his feelings of neglect because he's almost invisible to the family (he lived in a tent for awhile and no one noticed)...he doesn't feel like his family provides what other famiies do.

Days Away – Mirrors Lyrics 19 years ago
It definitely sounds like suicide. But with the addition of a second person, it could also mean taking your soulmate and running away with them, escaping from the dullness and the unconscious existence everyone seems to lead...whether by suicide or some other means is subjective.

The Wallflowers – I Am A Building Lyrics 19 years ago
I interpret this song as the feelings of isolation the singer is feeling and his surrender to our slowly dying world. He looks down at pollution (landfill, dead grass), universal suffering (the whole valley looks like someone's body / and all the people look like little scars), and the lost of what was good and pure in the world (where Eden was before / But not anymore)...

He knows that the state of the world is too overwhelming for him to change, and for this he feels he can only observe things through "a thousand windows" and is unable to reach out and help because he is trapped, "without doors." So he accepts this unconditional fate.

(I love this song, it's one of my favorites)

The Wallflowers – The Beautiful Side of Somewhere Lyrics 19 years ago
The lyrics are off...here they are from the official site:

Tomorrow is gonna make you cry
It's gonna make you kneel
Before it breaks you from inside
Still pressing on
Arm over arm
Still trying to get both feet back on to the ground
They are harvesting these fields in autumn
We're different now than we started

I am ready to wake up
There in the exodus
On the beautiful side of somewhere

There on the pavement underneath the yellow moon
I think of you and just how easily we bruise
A folded address in my pocket I have stopped
Trying to believe for you that the bottom didn’t drop
I am on the platform, covered with dust
I pray they take the both of us

I am ready to wake up
There in the exodus
On the beautiful side of somewhere

I am ready to come down
And see us both somehow
On the beautiful side of somewhere, someday

I am lighting matches for the rescue
Some are candles, some are fuses
Acting on my best behavior
Switching over every breaker

As we're plowing through these laws of nature
Disregarding every acre
I'm lying in my Sunday best
Assuming this was not a test

I am ready to wake up
There in the exodus
On the beautiful side of somewhere

I am ready to come down
And see us both somehow
On the beautiful side of somewhere, someday

I'm ready to wake up
On the beautiful side of somewhere, someday

I think the song is about strife through struggle and its reward, perhaps a heaven. I don't think the subject feels grief, I think he is usng sheer hope and faith to plow through life and looks forward to death as ending the pain...

Pedro the Lion – Transcontinental Lyrics 19 years ago
This song means a lot to me. For me, it's about this feeling of almost insisting to succumb to weakness. It's this shame in feeling that you know you could actually go out and live your life but something deep inside wont let you.

He compares himself to other people with enough will and passion to live, and for that he feels pathetic. You know how it is; you read stories of extraordinary circumstances, self-sacrifice, and triumph over despair. This is the 'hard part,' which is accepting the pain and struggle.

I know how this feels. You feel like your life issues could not compare to those of other, stronger people. The feelings of inadequacy and personal failure are so profound. I think this song is a beautiful rendering of these feelings. It brings tears to my eyes...
