I can see what this song means to the singer, but to me its about my relationship with my son. Forgetting for a minute or 2 the worries, the naughtiness and just allowing that hope that love fills you with to be your world. Just for a little while. He's only 4 and "forget what we're told, before we get to old.. show me a garden that's bursting into life" brings me back to being a kid and seeing the wonder of the world. I know others dont see this in this song, but it brings to mind a million of his smiles, his happy eyes and head thrown back in laughter. I thank snow patrol for bringing this song into my life!! :)

did i just enter some totally crap chatroom? no? the song... i always felt it translate as someone wanting the person they love to stop screwing it all up. Like the final plea to value what they have, but i just re-read it on the basis of gay-father to son and it soooo works that way too.

this song is pure innocence. it will forever be a picture of my son and i lying on the trampoline staring up at the cloud shapes in the blue sky. Simple. Perfect. Unforgettable.
