are you sure the line: "Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade" shouldn't be: "Many a young maid lost her father to my trade" Btw, I agree with the idea that this song is about various archetypes in history that live on in one way or another despite the individual person being gone. Each contributed to the story in the chapter that was their life. The final verse (Cash's) could look forward to a future archetype given our nature for expansion, we'll be exploring space eventually. $.02 |
