I think it's a sh*t or get off the pot kind of song. Link it to the world, link it to yourself - blame whomever you need to blame to make yourself feel better. The rest is pretty self explanatory from this perspective. Look at it through the eyes of someone telling someone else to get over their sh*t. It's as if this person has all this angst and anger inside them, and the person is telling them, to grow it, to build it up until they just explode (growing like a new born), then they're forced to get rid of it all. Then they're saying to the person - come on! Show me what you got! Like the song builds up, the feeling this person has, whether it's obsession, love, hatred, etc., the singer is getting them worked up, and eventually getting them to release it. Think about it. REALLY think about it! |

I think Lucian and Khammers were both spot on. Another interpretation ~ she talks about having someone in her life, regardless of who it is. She's saying they don't realize who they're messing with, I mean, she's Tori for goodness sake! (music related, perhaps). If so, very true. The critics can go to hell, and while The Beekeper certainly wasn't my favourite album, she's saying a big su-fi to the critics who didn't like it, cause she'll still sell out at every single concert; she's f*ing hot musically, and literally (for a chick). Maybe I'll let your big wheel turn my fantasy ~ maybe I'll let you alter my perception, my way of thinking/feeling, etc. At the end, she's saying f* it, I'm hot, this obviously isn't working (musically or otherwise, we'll probably never know). Drinking down your pain- drinking to deal with someone else's shite, but she's gonna turn it into something good for herself. Then she says ~ big wheel turn my fantasy. She no longer wanta a part of whatever it was. You know, I have to give Tori props. Even though The Beekeeper wasn't my favourite albun, she did what she wanted to do, and didn't sell out. Kudos to her!!! |

Aside from what I just wrote, I think this song is about keeping it simple, stupid (KISS). Whether it's friendship or a relationship, it can be taken either way, really, but it's simply about keeping whatever you have with someone, that dynamic, and keeping it simple and easy, so you can be "bouncing off clouds" i.e. happy. She's asking ~ why does it have to be difficult? Why can't it just be "easy like Sunday morning", easy? Why must it come to this? Personally, I think people, as a whole, read too much into things. Everyone wants to know the meaning of whatever. Sometimes there is no meaning. Sometimes it is what it is. Sometimes it really is THAT simple, and you're just happy. Why do you have to have a reason to be happy? Can't you just be happy for the sake of being happy; because you WANT to be, or you just ARE?? Love the song. Great comeback from the Beekerper album. :-) |

XrubberXmaidX: I have to agree with you. I've been a fan since Y Kant Tori Read, and during and after Beekeeper, I lost interest. I was actually speaking to my Tori music & concert going friend, and we decided our Tori concert going days were done. It wasn't worth it, since we didn't like the newer music so much as we did the older stuff, which is just "home" to us. What she has on her myspace page, is just great though! I feel like Tori may have made a comeback, and it's definitely for the better! This song is great!!! |

I think it's about a one nighter. She gave it up, she isn't happy, and hasn't heard from him. When you're young (and dumb), you kind of hope that maybe the one night may not be just a one nighter. The emotional baggage that came with the "one night" to him was 6 weeks to her, maybe not literally, but figuratively (or maybe both). The other thing I thought of - it could be about her parents. Maybe not her parents, persay, but from the eyes of a child. Maybe one of the parents left? The "never knew your name" bit, that doesn't have to be taken literally. Figuratively speaking, it could mean that this person is nothing to her, and she'll never give the satisfaction of speaking about it. However, she's still hesitant to love again (as this can always effect someone & their ability to trust/love/have a normal relationship/friendship) & will be hesitant indefinitely. Just my 3 cents. |

For the love of God, this song is NOT about prom! Why does every high schooler automatically have to start relating everything to high school, and start writing about some boyfriend or girlfriend they had for 3 days? (It's a rhetorical question!) Look at the bigger picture, people! He's talking about her letting him "in". Not literally, as in sexually, but metaphorically. Into her life, heart, world, etc. He's pretty much saying, regardless of whatever happens, he's okay with it, and happy to go along with whatever may or may not happen. The DJ playing the last song bit - at the end of the day, it's only them, and them alone that matters. He wants her to give him a chance (obviously), but she's hesitant, he's saying they may be better together than she realizes, but he won't push her. Work & play - relationships are work & play. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it isn't. As for the "mix" everyone keeps referring to, he's talking about how they mix "together," as in how they gel (chemistry, get along, etc.). |

TO ME THIS MEANT - HE'S THE "THIN AIR". IF YOU CAN'T SEE ME FOR WHAT/WHO I AM, THEN WHAT DOES IT MATTER WHAT YOU THINK OF ME.
