| Simon and Garfunkel – Cecilia Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| When I was little, my mom told me this was "my song" because she had planned on naming me Alexandra Cecilia after my great-great grandmother, Margaret Cecilia Bergin. Unfortunately, she stuck me with Bergin instead, but even though I'm 18 now, I still consider this to be "my song." A little lame, I know, but I love it. I even got the DJ to play it at my senior prom. | |
| Simon and Garfunkel – Keep The Customer Satisfied Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Pot makes so much more sense than what I always thought. I've loved this song since I was little, but as I got older and listened to the lyrics more, I just figured it was about prostitution. Selling pot is a much better explanation. | |

About the whole Genovese thing, it makes sense. But the people who heard her didn't have mixed-up priorities. I had to study a psychological study they did after the murder. It basically says that the more people are around, the less likely people are to help because they think that someone else will. So if everyone doesn't help because they assume that SOMEONE will, nobody helps at all. Yeah, I know that wasn't really related to the song. Sorry. It is a fabulous song though. It really makes you think. It (along with "Mrs. Robinson" and "Cecilia") was one of the first S&G songs I ever heard. It seems like forever ago...I think I was about four. My mom isn't as much of a fan as I am, but she really likes this song, so it was one of my earliest. |

Hey y'all! I'm a freshman at IU, and I'm taking a rock history course. My textbook (The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock & Roll) describes "The Boxer" as a "beautifully constructed, unsentimental dramatic monologue of an anonymous athlete." I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what the guy who wrote the Paul Simon chapter says. I absolutely loooooove Paul Simon. He is my hero. I've been listening to Simon & Garfunkel my entire life. My mom's always telling people that I was the only five-year-old she evr heard of who asked for S&G tapes for their birthday (and I got them too!) I think Paul is a musical genius. He's so freaking talented it's not even funny. I listened to this song a lot more when I was younger. I liked to scream the "lie-la-lie" parts at the top of my lungs. Now it's a good song to listen to when I need motivated or when I'm depressed...yeah, kind of an oxymoron, but with me, different songs mean different things depending on my mood. Sorry I've been rambling so long! |
