PLEASE READ (summary): it's about hangups. not being able to let go of the past.. of resporting to self destructive methods which prove more comfortable than resolving.. after having let go, letting things re-surface and eat you alive.. and the awknowledgment of said tendancies as normal. recognizing this perpetual spiral here and seeing the 'other side' aswell, but being STUCK.. just stuck in comfort, desire and some sort of notion that going back to the past is psychosematically better than progressing into the future. on druguse, depression, ex's, suicide - all could apply. |

seems to me that this song implies an already existing relationship between a man and woman. the first part hints at a realization/epiphany about the significance of a woman.. then he goes to show unselfish tendancies and starts to have feelings for said female that are above strictly carnal attraction. even chino saying: "For the first time I wish she'd call I wish she'd come" seems to refer to how he's stepped over himself - in not only the sexual act but outside the bedroom aswell - and wants to put in more effort into pleasing her. this is a metaphor for their relationship as a whole. |
