I love Bon Iver. I hate this song. Whenever it comes up, I always think of hip hop & rap music, which isn't bad at all, but when listening to Bon Iver, i get in this mood of peace & happiness, and this song just completely offsets the mood. I can't believe I'm the only one who doesn't like it here. Pity. |

i absolutely agree about the similarities that it possesses to sugar skulls. in fact, when i saw them live, i thought they were covering it for a second. it seems odd for the two songs to sound so alike, and for both bands to be on tour together, doesn't it? it really does ruin the song, a lot. |

i love this song... i think its about some sort of relationship that's ended, obviously. Charlie dropped Dia in the mailbox meaning he sent her away. He ended the relationship. Dia, her smile that's become empty and lazy, still has her face paint on. I think that means that she's been faking her happiness, and continues to fake it even after Charlie has ended their relationship. the line between her pen and mind is at war, meaning she is having difficulty transfering her thoughts on to paper, which could also mean that she's having difficulty with writing lyrics. she finds that she can not speak with him without raising her voice (my voice is a hatchet...) she's over thinking everything (my mind is a bucket) Charlie tried telling her that he loved her and she was too scared to accept it, and pushed him away. thus ending the relationship. and now she's hit rock bottom & is stunned at what she sees... she has really lost it all |

i think it's about a relationship that fell apart and he thinks about how she told him "this love is forever. it's love to stay" and now that the relationship is over she's "made a fool of love" i think the line "it's still not quite the way it was" could mean that the relationships been over for quite some time but he still can't get back to the way he was before this girl. now that it's over he feels like he wasn't good enough for her. i also think the hospital is symbolic for his mind. like, i think he boxed up all his emotions and feelings towards this girl and the relationship but can't quite seem to put the box on the shelf and instead dwells in those thoughts. that's what he means by "i'll never leave there" |

about a relationship ending, because the two people weren't really cut out for each other. the lyrics cheated by three dull words, i'm thinking mean i love you. so they didn't really love each other. and even though they're over, the guy is looking at the girl, seeing that she's found someone new, and although he doesn't want to be with the girl, he doesn't want her to move on. |

well these aren't the complete lyrics, they played it last night at taste of chaos, and i know in the second verse he says something about "resserection" not that that helps or anything. i just though i should tell you. i think they wrote a few songs about the bert/gerard feud, cause they played a lot of new stuff, like this song liar liar [i assume that was the name] & he's like "you're a fucking liar!" idk. but i have suspicions that it's about that feud. new album drops may 8th! get stoked |

what does this song mean to me? i'm gonna drop names just for you to know. samara me and kels were all friends. the best of friends might i add. samara and i liked a boy named dimitry. we agreed that he was off limits because honestly, it's chicks before dicks. the next day he asked her out and she said yes. then she met kim. kims a fifteen year old alcoholic. : ] that's fabulous right? samara stats drinking and forgets who her real friends are. starts trash talking us for no apparent reason, samara even is sneeking around [like a snake] to go get drunk, and she even gets arrested. real nice babe. and kim, is really a fake because she goes around talking about samara all the time calling her fat and a drunk, when in reality samara is not fat and wasn't always drunk like kim was. AND not to mention, samara ditched kelsey on her birthday. :[ so this song makes perfect fucking sense to me. even the title. my opinion: i have a sister whos handi capped and it's been so incredibly hard for me. This past summer i heard this song and my mom mentioned how when she heard it, it reminded her of my sister. I listened to it and i knew she was right. the lines "she sun does nothing" it's like my sister doesn't really do anything because she can't move "she wont tell nothing" my sister can't talk. you can tell her your secrets and they stay safe "sea change she's strange" not so sure about the sea, but from an onlooker i guess she's strange? "don't think just feel it" don't put too much thought into her disabilty because it hurts you too much. just feel the love for her i know it's definatly not what the subways meant for this song, but it just means so much to me. it just makes so much sense to me. i love this song. it's my everything |
