hmm... This might be a stretch, but maybe the first verse alludes to T.S. Elliot's J. Alfred Prufrock?
If I remember correctly, the poem describes the streets being full of "yellow fog," reflected in the "turn the air yellow for hours" line.
The poem as a whole is about a man (J. Alfred Prufrock) who is unable to ask his love to marry him, basically because of the pressures of society. This might connect to the "Have you ever loved enough to destoy your love?" line.
I'm not exactly sure what that would mean for the song as a whole, but I definitely agree with JustPlainNJ about the Abraham/Isaac reference. Anybody got any ideas about how to unite all this stuff? |

Holy shit is right. All this time I thought these were just noises, but it turns out there's a whole friggin' story inside this already amazing song. I love how at the end, there's a statement about mirrors that is mirrored upon itself. Good stuff. I have no idea what it means though. |

I LOVE this song. I always listne to it before a vball game. As far as the meaning goes, I think it's about the battle that everyone goes through when they try to improve at something. You can't improve without being challenged or falling every once in a while. |
