This song is about someone saving him from his life and all the problems in it. Noel has mentioned that this song relates back to his childhood, as he had a depressing one. It was full of trauma, and he was often beaten by his father. The message in the opening line “Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you” suggests that he is reminded of his childhood, perhaps when he thought about his life and the problems he was facing at that time of his life. In the line, “And all the roads we have to walk are winding, and all the lights that lead us there are blinding,” the winding roads indicates his life, and the blinding lights means that his life is confusing, and its hard to interpret what his future will be like. His wonderwall is the person who will help him through his life, which was his ex-wife Meg Mathews.
