First of all this song is absolutely beautiful. Probably one of the best known songs of the Blue Nile. Tinseltown refers to Hollywood, city of glamour. I think this song is about fast love. Living in the city life goes fast, people come and people go. Saying to each other for the outside world that you love each other, meanwhile knowing that its over and that many people are experiencing the same. The red car could be something factual, but I think it's a symbol for fast love in the rain. Funny that it doesnt even rain in the videoclip. You would expect that. |

when you see the videoclip there's a sad guy waving with a Dutch flag next to the evil one. I really want to know if this has a meaning...I think the song is about the people against the government. "When I am king.." like in a fantasy a kid wants to rule the world and get rid of the people who are ruling it now. Paranoid.. maybe because of the so called innocence of the 2 children you see, while in fact you are hearing Radiohead screaming and shouting. Paranoid because of the angel in the helicopter that is on the R kids' side, not even try to stop the man from hurting/killing himself. Being sweet and innocent but having this dead wish to others. Not an android because they are just children. But apparently the song is referring to hitchhikers guide...Love the song. The way it is build reminds me of Bohemian Rhapsody. I see this as the modern version. |

I also believe this song is about women being treated less than men. Coryoon has said it all. The woman in the song has to sell her body. Pretends everything is alright. But inside she's dying like so many women in this world. This song is not about one woman. It's about every woman in this world that has to cope with men's so called superiority. Love this song. |

I believe this song is meant as a reminder that though we want to put criminals in a spotlight, everyone has their flaws. At daytime we are friendly fathers and cheerful mothers, but at night, we can be child molesters or alcoholics. We aren't holy. Though I like EvolutionBeanFeast's theory as well. And to end, I think this is one of the best songs ever made. |

now we all know this song is about a nightmare Robert had when he was a child, but for me this song could also be a description of fear at night for a child molester coming again and again...it horrifies me. the song makes me feel sad. |
