I think Stephen made a mistake in his relationship, possibly by sleeping with this girl, and drinking too much. He can't make out of it was a good decision to sleep with the girl or not since he's too drunk to make a good judgement. And the title, In Retrospect, It was Obviously Hell, supports that. He made a msitake, and he knows it. That's what I make from the album |

And if you listen to the other bands on Tooth And Nail records, they don't sing specifically about God either. They're Christian in a band, they sing real music, positive music, and helpful songs. Just because they aren't singing about God, doesn't mean they aren't worthy of their record label... |

i think this song is about a girl who is obsessed with partying. Well I know you like the party, but the party never stops. I know you like the party, but the party never stops. Like, the parties and the highs will stay with you after the party, and keeps going on. but she doesn't care, and she keeps partying anyways. This basically means he (the singer) knows she loves partying, and while she parties she just lets go of everything around her and gets high with no worries about stuff currently happening. The drugs you used as a place to hide, It’s really bad if you don’t get this right. (I got this, I got this, I got this. I don’t need you.) This seems to be a conversation between the singer and the girl. He's telling her that she could die, because of drunk/high driving nd he offers to take her home because he's sober, and wants to look out for her. But she says she doesn't need him and says she'll be okay, and for him to just leave. You got kicked out of your mother's house. You stole money from her purse. She finally found you out. You should be ashamed, (Don't sit there judging me.) What a waste, (You'd be the same if you could see.) So lets have another drink. And we'll party on, party on. Get your party on. Get your party on. This is about the girl, she got kicked out for stealing from her mom for money for drugs. The singer tells her she should be ashamed for what she did, but she says he;d be the same in her position. February is still as scary, The month your father died. A little girl in a shrinking world, Looking for her place to run and hide. Basically it says her father has died recently and she's been trying to deal with it, and got into drugs as a while to hide her sadness and grieving. So its basically about a friend of the singer, her father has died and she's been using and stealing money from her mom to be able to buy the drugs, and she's been partying way too much. |

I read the Other day in AP that around the time that Silverstein was writing this album they were on their first real break after touring for 4 years. Two of the band members had relatives die before their break. And also Shane and his girlfriend of 7 years broke up right before/during the process of writing this album and on their break. Shane said a lot of the songs are based on what he was feeling with his girlfriend breaking up with him, and the feelings he had for her while they were together. I think this is where a lot of the songs are coming from, and I feel bad for Shane. But the new album is amazing :) |

i cn relate to this song a lt. I think its about someone he was in love with, and might not see as much anymore/don't know anymore, but still talk. He wishes he was still with her, and has hope he'll see her again. this is what it means for me. |

| When me and my boyfriend of almost one year broke up a while after I dumped him I wanted him back. He said he wasn't sure and I listened to this song a lot and I seemed to be able to relate, feeling bad for what I'd done- "I'm not satisfied with where I"m at in life" and all the stuff I had said and breaking promises "We made plans to grow old" and then feeling like wanting something good came with something horrible. I saw these guys live with hawk Nelson and falling up. And they were just so good live! So deff. go see them if you can. They put on a good show =] I think the song is just about believing in what you do cause life is short so make the best of it. I recommend the cd =] |
