*This song is about college (if you enjoyed it the right way.) You live in a place long long ago Where nothing moves, and time goes slow And someone sang about a golden age In summertime park, drinking in the dark This place was the machine that put the iron in your heart * Its a time that feels long ago, but really wasn't that long ago. Where everything was carefree and you were having the time of your life and you thought it would never end. So we hung around, and we hung around, and we hung around for days In the parking lot stoned, the stars shone out of phase And the rain came down, cassettes were out, oh no And you left town, feeling pretty down With your headphones, and your coat, and your dirty graduation gown * This part of the song relates to the time after the graduation where they hung out in their college town for a little longer. Then it was time to move on (the rain came down) and college was over and that part of their lives was done and it was hard to let it go. You were in the bedroom singing radio songs Sing loud, sing all night Emily Needed something to help you along * This Emily character is still missing that life and music helps her cope with leaving college behind and facing the real world Freeze, freeze, freeze little golden age Freeze, freeze, freeze little golden age * wishes college could have lasted forever And I don't miss my little golden age Cause the body takes the heart, takes the heart from place to place But this place still stands, this place remains unchanged And you can't go back but who would want to anyway * Singer states he doesn't miss it because there will be good times to be found along the road and even though the college and the town are still there as they always were, they really aren't there for his graduating class any more because their times have passed and its a whole different world now so whats the point of going back? * After hearing this song one time, I connected it with leaving the college world and entering the real world. Maybe cuz Im a recent graduate so I can really relate. |

| Great song! Sounds like its about the singer's baby's mamas brother who he never met and is now dead. It seems that he was greatly loved by his family. Hes basically just saying I'll get to meet you one day in a better place ... heaven. Pretty simple song. I love the guitar in it. | |

i agree with desertmodesta, but if youve only heard that song so far then dont be too quick to judge. The new album is solid and its still poppy, but there are some great songs that will also remind you of the older MM such as Spitting Venom and Parting of The Sensory. Modest Mouse will always crop out some awesome music and no matter what it is, its still better than 99% of the other stuff out there. I often wonder what people would say if their first albums were Good News and We Were Dead and they still werent famous and then they hit it big with 3rd Planet or something off M&A. Im pretty sure you guys would still find some reason to bitch and say "I miss the old MM that had songs like Bukowski, The View, Dashboard, and yes ... FLOAT ON." I think most people who have known MM from the start dont like that they got big with a happy poppy song like Float On (which isnt really that happy btw) and wish they were still only known by some. If thats true please just try enjoying the new music if you really dont like it and if you dont want to than fine. I just dont want to hear people talking crap about MM. There are so many other bands that you SHOULD be talking crap about like My Chem Romance, Fallout Boy, AFI, and 30 seconds to Mars. I just vomited. |

| Franz Ferdinand – Auf Achse Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is about a guy who falls in love with a girl but she doesnt return his love, but he still obesesses over her. His friends tell him that shes not worth it and he realizes that but in the end he just goes back to obsessing over her b/c he cant resist. | |
