"Shotgun Wedding" is slang for when people get married to avoid the embarrement of a pregancy which wasn't actually meant to happen. It's like a knee-jerk reaction and so it's a shotgun wedding...i'm pretty sure that's where that comes from. People have mentioned stuff about the bledding, pregenancy etc etc...that's what this song is about i reckon. Must be something to do with the book too as all you guys are saying. Haven't read it. Anyways, amazing song, demo version is FAAARRR better than the one on the album. |

Kele said that he wrote this song, "in an attempt to rouse someone into doing something. Shaking someone out of apathy and indecision is one of the hardest things to do" I think this song wasn't wirtten to actually mean something, but as Kele said, just to make people think about themselves, and to try and motivate. You kind of get that feeling from the music too, it's so mellow but also so enpowering, especially when the double guitar solo kicks in. The lyrics to this song are absoloutley fantastic, definatley some of the best on the album. Easily on of their best songs for me. Drums in the chorus are great! Finally, this song being towards the end of the album i think suggests even more so that it's just about thinking about yourself, and going out and doing something, making a change, almost as a closing statement to everything they try to say during the course of the album. |
