I mean wow. This song is so weird... it isn't until you listen to it at least 15 times, and heard all of the albums, that you get it. I finally realized that he's literally talking about 'that same girl' they've been talking about. "There's a ghost in my bedroom It haunts me and I I've asked him to leave but he keeps stopping by Just when I think I'm alone It shows up again with a friend this time" This song is about lingering love. That point in love when you've been broken up with someone for a while, and yet you're still in love with the OLD them. That idea of the person they once were. "When he talked all day I can't tell if he's real or a made up version of her again Never alone cause I got you Get this out of my head No I won't waste away my life On to something new" In this song, he goes back and forth with who he is now, and the person he was when he loved her/when he was with her. At the end of the day, he knows he will never have her back in the same way from before, and he knows she isn't good for him; which is why he talks about 'his ghost' "There's a ghost in my bedroom And he's dying to meet you God knows he's heard all about you Our guest is friendly enough though Softly, slowly , how can I come down? I want you to notice when I let go" The end is basically the feeling of him conquering his "ghost". He's looking at him head on and fighting that feeling, and making sure that SHE knows he's let her go. Physically anyway. Overall, this is an amazing song about the aftermath of a love that's lost. Lovely classic Mayday. |

I thought that the way she structured these lyrics were so perfect. It was said so complicatedly simple. We know exactly what it's about though, she makes it clear. It's just a relationship that both of them have grown out of and it's just not the same and they both know they'll be happy if they just go their separate ways. |

I've been listening to this song alot for the past couple weeks due to it playing all the time at my job and I love the music... today I was riding on the interstate alone and actually listened listened for once... the minute I realized it was a song about a long distance relationship, I cried. Me and my boyfriend are going to have to split up for the summer and I pray we don't end up like this. I hope if one of us ends up messing up that we be honest with eachother... that we trust eachother... that we can actually be mature enough to uphold this... I hope. But all in all, I love this song and I love it even more that I know what it's about. I kind of assumed he was on a tour bus when he was seeing his reflection and going to different cities. But yeah this can mean different things to different people but I know what it means to me... |

See. You all are right. It's all about God, I agree with what some other people said, she's reaching out to people who aren't really Christian, and she's talking about how easy it is to get sucked in by the world, but you have to make your own choice to breath. Yeah, the first lines were really Christian-y, but I think the biggest line was "only one thing big enough to fill the void that's inside of you." I.E. God. But yeah. Awesome band. Awesome song. |

The first verse is something like, amazing... To me this song is him telling the girl he just broke up with, or just stopped talking to that he misses her... "And I'm... tired, of being all alone, and this solitary moment makes me want to come back home" I love that line as well, cuz I'm in college, and when I think about old times, when I'm lonely, I kind of just want to go home and be with my family... =/ All in all, I love this song. Everyone is right about the braille skin... I love how she says counting stretch marks so many times. She's thinking about it so much.... And when she says that Elvis never could carry a tune, i love it. It just shows how much time has passed by... I love this song. |

I'm really trying to get over this guy that I really like, and he likes me, but were not in a relationship, and most likely arent going to get in one. This song... is life basically. The way he says "This mut be it, welcome to the new year..." twice. At the beginning and at the end. The first one signifys The beginning of the year, and the other time is talking about the end. I believe he is expressiong not only him at a party, but everything that is happening to him over the year... it seems like he never really fits in and he's always going for the girl who's taken, and it all ends up blowing up in his face. He feels like a loser basically, and it sucks... But all in all, he knows that nothing ever changes and things are going to stay the same every year. This song is oh so emo and I love it. It's on my top 25 most played of course. And I try to listen to it every new year's. 2008 is on the rise. |
