on a sunday my friend was killed my his mother. she was addicted to drugs, he also used to be, but now because of his new girlfriend, he was cleaing his life up. his mom got insanely jealous and switched his pills around, so when he took them, he would never wake up. i bought this album a week before this happened. this song is all about realizing that death is a part of living.
when the drugs leave, that help you cope, you feel reality for the first time.
learn as you lose, a friend in my case.
the haze clears from your eyes as you deal with the loss and know that this is part of life.

i listened to this song on repeat for about 3 hours, on the night of my grandmother's funeral. i was candy-flipping at the time, so i didn't have to think about reality for the moment. i was hit hard by that loss, but this song will always remind me that life goes on.

i love everything the deftones have ever done ever.....but i think this is the most label influenced song yet. it is good, just a bit to repetitive for it to be all chino's lyrics. the man is a genius. i just want to hear the rest of the album now. |
