I think that Neaera is describing their own role as a band in this song. As you probably noticed, most of their song, if not all, deal with our society, mainly it's problems, mankind and suffering. If you observe the past, you gaze 'into a vortex of brutality', meaning all the things that have gone wrong and in which mankind has proven it's cruelty. That is what Neaera does, in nearly all their songs. With their music, they reflect on these things and try to 'spread the word for those who are forced to scream without a mouth'. So basically, those who suffer or did suffer and are not heard for whatever reason (for example they're already dead, kept away or haven't got any possibilty of making people aware of their situation) Furthermore, a lot of future mistakes could be prevented if you closely observe the past mistakes and learn from them. So the 'Harbinger of the Past' is the 'Keeper of a better tomorrow' for he knows the way, or more specifically, he knows the 'not-way', meaning what way should under no circumstances be taken by mankind. That is why, we thousands, we millions have to listen to them and our children (and theirs of course, too) need to remember what Neaera, the Harbinger of the Past, taught us! Of course, Neaera, in no line of this song, claims to be that 'Harbinger', they are not that presumptuous! That is just what I feel they are. Along with a lot of other bands/people. (cf. 'I am alone / Yet there are so many more like me) That being said, the last piece is pretty simple, too. [The rain of all these tears...~] I think, it simply means, that a lot of people, being aware of all these things that go/went wrong in this world, get totally pissed and just want to kill/harm anyone involved to make them feel the same pain. But for him/them (the Harbinger/Neaera), it is no longer about retaliation but about making ppl aware of those things... Yea, that's basically what I think about this song. Last but not least: That is a kickass song... ! |

Oh sorry, I forgot this was not a german website ^^' Well, this song is pretty easy like most Neaera songs are. It's about the war on terror, mainly waged by the USA. This war on terror in the way that it is done makes the whole thing only worse. |

| Sollte ziemlich eindeutig sein, es geht um den vornehmlich von den USA geführten Krieg gegen den Terror, der alles nur verschlimmert. | |

For me personally this song is about an experience I had. An experience that somehow controls me, it won't leave me and changed a lot of things in my life actually, of course not on the surface but on the inside. It often drags one down and you kinda wonder if or when you will just 'forget to remember' |
