| The Antlers – Parade Lyrics

Considering that "Familiars" is a reflection upon youth and one's past mistakes or triumphs, I feel like the song is a tribute to blind optimism and pride that we can have as teenagers. Parades seem to embody that display of good vibes and cheeriness. At the same time, the narrator accepts his failures from his youth and learns from them. It's not really a pessimistic song, but rather encapsulates the need to make a show (a parade) and move on with high spirits. Similar to "Putting the Dog to Sleep" but with a cheerier melody and more broad in topic.
Great song. Takes me back to high school but instills the feeling of "no regrets". Heartfelt and uplifting. |

I think this song is simply about insecurity around strangers and alienation that takes place in cities, where, ironically, people are so close to one another. |

Great song. Sad that so few people have commented.
The gentle piano work and drums really accompany Jonas' vocals so well. When the chorus hits, the sound is overwhelming dreamy. I get goosebumps on my forearms... |

I believe Jonas once said in an interview that his childhood dentist was named "Dr. Nolan". Jonas used to have some dentist-related nightmares and thus associates apocalyptic times to his name. |

Someone else please tell me they can hear this. At around 0:12 when there's a pause and the guitar is ringing, I hear "....will not take the field if a black man..." in a radio-broadcast-like frequency. I can only hear this on my iPod but not through my computer speakers. Does anyone notice this sound clip? Is it some kind of easter egg? It reminds me of the song clips used by Tera Melos during their songs. |

If any person is confused about the "silver lining" lyric, here's a definition I found.
::a consoling aspect of a difficult situation; "every cloud has a silver lining"; "look on the bright side of it"::
Now the song makes a little more sense. Sad song, nonetheless. |

Yes, the song is about sex. It's about a girl from a short-term relationship or a "friend with benefits" that is special because of the pleasure she gave him. |

Notice that in the music video, Jonas looks up to the clouds while he sings. Thus, it's probably about him singing to a lady who's making him insecure, as if she's in the clouds and he's trapped in the big, scary city. Cities can be zoos of people you know. ;) |

I just got the "Why Are You Looking Grave" CD1 Single from eBay. This song on the disc is a pretty good. Slow-paced, simple instrumentations with guitar, tambourine, piano, and xylophone. Jonas' vocals are also great on this track.
Sounds like someone singing a lullaby to a loved one with strong emotions as if they'll never see this person again. I'd conclude that this couple cannot stay together because of some problems. But still, they're going to love eachother like innocent children--thus, the lullaby sound. |

Song's about the more self-conscious one of a couple. The one who worries so much they answer their own anxious question. "Am I Wry? No!" Wry meaning weird/awkward. |

I think the song's about a paranoid person trying to protect their sanity or innocence (the fox cub). |
