| The Decemberists – Of Angels and Angles Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It felt more to me like he was speaking of an artist's work here to me. I tend to believe that the artist is a girlfriend or lover, but not necessarily. "There are angels in your angles There's a low moon caught in your tangles" It feels to me like he was speaking of a friend (male or female) doing some form of artwork and this is his compliment. There are angels in the way they construct their picture and there is the simplistic beauty of the moon in the conflicts the artist has presented. "There's a ticking at the sill There's a purr of a pigeon to break the still of day" It felt, to me, like he was talking about his life as an "artist" (musician) and the different way things are noticed as an artist. "As on we go drowning Down we go away And darling, we go a-drowning Down we go away Away" Have you ever heard of Stendhal syndrome? It's a literal physical emotion where you see something so beautiful that you can literally experience heart palpatations, fainting; such extreme ectasy that you feel as though youa re dying. "There's a tough word on your crossword There's a bed bug nipping a finger There's a swallor, there's a calm Here's a hand to lay on your open palm today" He seems to be saying here that even though the small frustrations of life add up, there's the smaller and more important benefits of being an artist and of being alive to recognize. He seems to equate being an artist to breathing. Also, you can take all of this and believe that it is about sex. Not screwing to screw, but "making love." If you look at it from the point of view as though it is about sex, it actually makes a lot of sense. |

| The Decemberists – Red Right Ankle Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This was actually the first Decemberists song I ever heard. I couldn't help falling in love with the song and band in general, and the first time I heard it, I thought it was a song about war. It seemed to me, at the time, like he was singing to a lost loved one that was taken from him by some war; the line about the story of the boys who loved you makes me think of all the family members and war buddies that eventually became his family. Some never got a chance to really tell the lost loved one that they loved them, but a lot of it seemed to point to the fact that they all truly did. Listening to it now, I feel more like its not only a war song, but also a love song. The lyrics mesh together to form the perfect blend of both. |

| Flobots – Same Thing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is one of the better songs, in my opinion. Even though Handlebars was reportedly about Bush, this actually kind of sums up what he did wrong, to be honest. | |
| Gym Class Heroes – Everyday's Forecast Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| You guys are all idiots. Panic! At the Disco got that line, "the weather today..." from Diary by Chuck Palahniuk; the whole song Time to Dance is about the book Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. This song is about /them,/ not Pete Wentz or Brendon Urie. Get used to it. | |
| Gym Class Heroes – Za Intro Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's like, they're describing what music is to them. It makes sense to me. I love this... song, or intro, whatever you want to call it. | |
| Cute Is What We Aim For – The Fourth Drink Instinct Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is amaaaazing. Obviously, the point of the song is basically told at the end of the song (She thought that she could buy happiness by the bottle) But it's still amazing. It's what a lot of girls think now. And I love that term 'the fourth drink instinct is taking over' because after a few drinks, she's lost control. There's a lot about taking control in the song... If this was written about a real person, I think that he really really cares for her. It's amazing. |

| Panic! at the Disco – Northern Downpour Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
it sounds like they're wishing for peace. not like, in the world sense, but a sense of comfort and serenity... 'hey moon, don't forget to fall down' reminds me of someone thinking about how they never want this moment to end. and 'you're at the top of my lungs' sounds like he is trying to breathe in all of the feelings he's experiencing right now. and the broken bone part does remind me of healing, like he's trying to fix the parts of the world that are falling apart. it seems to me like he's trying to explain about taking on the world at such a young age, and being the peacemaker of the nation. i'm probably completely off base here, but it makes sense to me. |

| Green Day – Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is sort of like, a polite kiss-off. It's not an angry break-up song, but it's like he was dating a beautiful, amazing girl but they just stopped working out. Neither of them expected it, and things just changed. He needed to go his way, and she needed to go her way. He's telling her that for what it's worth, it was worth the while, meaning that if she cares to hear it, she really did mean a lot to him. He wants her to know that he loves her and always will, and he's talking to her like he'll never forget her. When he says take the photographs, he's telling her that he doesn't want her to forget him, he just wants her to move on and know that he's not the only person in her life that would ever love her. He wants only the best for her, and right now, that means not being with him. | |
| Ludacris – Runaway Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
is there anyway that it could be based on the vc andrews series orphan, or am i sounding like an idiot here? in the fourth novel of the series, raven, the last sentence in chapter 7, the parties over, says this: I turned and went back to the hell I had to call home. and the main story lines are about abuse, and not being able to fulfill dreams of others for you, like the first book, her adopted mother wanted her to be a ballerina and she was forced to practice every day, and in the fourth, raven, she got beat for something her new sister did. |

| The Scene Aesthetic – Beauty In The Breakdown Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| it reminds me of two people that have sort of learned to love each other even though they both dont want to. they seem like they've been hurt before and they're afraid of getting together, so they just want to run away and get to know each other. they know that if they get too close, it'll be hard for them, but when they're that close, it'll help them a lot too. they're afriad of everything but they feel that together, they'll be ok. | |
| 3CE – I Know You XxX Marry Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Everything was right and everything was wrong Only six months ago you know I wrote this song It was all about all these happy things But I rewrote the words more honestly Cause I can’t decide what I wanna do Should I call you up or should I just hate you I’m on the floor pressed against the tile But I’ll be okay; I’ll force myself to smile thats definitly talking about the past, and how it was perfect but nothing ever stays that way. he wants to make it known that he can make it without her and how he knows where he needs to be, even if she isn't with him. |
|
| All Time Low – Jasey Rae Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think they're talking about how the girl they were in love with turned everything around on him, and even though he was her last chance to make something out of herself she didn't care. he left her to make a point with her and she's lost now. | |
| The Kooks – Naive Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i've never heard this version, but lily allen redid this and thats where i heard it but couldnt it actually be reinterperted into any kind of problems with the relationships? i dont see any kind of references to cheating with it |

| My Chemical Romance – House Of Wolves Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think that he's regretting almost everything that he's done, telling himself he's going to Hell, but he wants his lover to tell him he's an angel, so he can have some comfort before he dies. | |
| My Chemical Romance – Famous Last Words Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song reminds me a lot of their old music. They seem to like to end on a harsher note. This song reminds me of him almost dying, and he's telling his girlfriend (fiance possibly?) that "I know I can't make you stay with me, but where's your heart? I'm dying and you don't care, I thought we were in love." other than that, I agree with raine697. | |
| My Chemical Romance – Disenchanted Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is one, if not my very, favorite on the album. 'Disenchanted' means coming out a spell, basically, so it's like the patient is coming out of life and going into death, and hes watching his life on the screen. He hates how it had to end so early (In another song he says 'knowning I'll never marry') but he likes how most of it went. (I hate the ending myself, but it started with an alright scene.) | |
| My Chemical Romance – Cancer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I like this song because you can tell he really put work into this. "Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you" is sort of like the part on Sleep. | |
| Jack's Mannequin – MFEO: Part 1: Made for Each Other/Part 2: You Can Breathe Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it's about a girl he really cares for and he did something wrong to her. She's not taking it the way he wants her to, and he's trying to get her to do what he thinks is best for her, even if she doesn't think the same. She may be going crazy, because she's getting cold in the rain, but she doesn't mind. He says she could have called him for a ride, but she says the rains just the rain; I need some fresh air. So he's taking her where "You can breathe." And if anyone has seen the movie The Jacket, I think the main actor got his inspiration from this music. Everything about him reminds me of Andrew. | |
| Jack's Mannequin – Bruised Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Anyone else think it may be about him leaving his girlfriend and he wants her to have a normal life without him? "I didn't mean for it to feel like this" kind of makes me think he thought he was doing what was best for her, but it's kind of not turning out how he thought, and he can't turn it back, so he's trying to get her to listen and believe that. | |
| Cute Is What We Aim For – Lyrical Lies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think she wants to hear things about her and wants to believe what he writes is about her but "the imagery doesn't fit" and "lyrical lies" means he wants to believe it too, but it just doesn't fit. | |
| Senses Fail – Calling All Cars Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think he wants a girl to get over him before she becomes even more miserable than she is. So he's trying to get her to listen, like "I kept my word when I swore that I would let you down" might be him trying to tell her that she should have listened before she got involved. | |
| Hollywood Undead – Scene For Dummies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
They're fucking amazing. I think they're bashing the little "emo" and "scene" kids who think they're all bad cause they like hollywood undead. And since the new scene fad is myspace, they're talking about how stupid it is, to be obsessed with how people worship people like Tila Tequila and Jeffree Star because everyone else do, but they say they don't follow the crowd. Fucking genius. They fucking kill any other band out there right now. |
|
| Hollywood Undead – My Black Dahlia Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i think they just named it "black dahlia" because of the last lines; and "I used to be love struck, now I'm just fucked up. Pull up my sleeves and see the paterns of my cuts!" I think they're talking about how maybe everything they trusted/loved made them as fucked up as they are now? Like when someone you love "kills" you, like as in hurting them, you just plain feel fucked up. Cause you actually believed they'd keep you safe. "Look at what I made for you, it never was enough and the world is what I gave to you." Could actually point to molestation or saying "I gave you everything and created your life for you; thanks for repaying me like this." |

| Hollywood Undead – Knife Called Lust Lyrics | 19 years ago |

its not "its just tragic the way these kids have it" its the way "you kids have it" sorry i'm listening to the song |

| From First to Last – ...And We All Have a Hell Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Amazing song. My personal favorite. Every day gets worse, Locked in a vice my thoughts perverse I think that means he's obsessed with that girl, he can't get over her. He must have her, and its getting worse. So over the progress of the song: I did a beautiful thing, Relax baby, that's a good girl You're like my work of art I can control, I can contort any Position that I wish, I make my fantasy reality Hold still, it will be over soon Yeah, it sounds like rape. But maybe she's giving in to what he wants? Maybe she actually wanted him to? Bobbysoxer so pure, so young (By morning her soul will be gone) So maybe yeah, he's going to murder her? Or maybe, "taking her life" as in her virginity? Who knows with Sonny Moore. Anything's possible. |

| My Chemical Romance – Our Lady Of Sorrows Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
You said we're not celebrities, we spark and fade, they die by threes Maybe they're saying "We're not celebrities; they sell out so quickly, we'll just leave and come back, leave and come back out of public eye" And also, when they say: Oh how wrong we were to think That immortality meant never dying That makes sense, soagnostic, but couldn't it also mean that he believes immortality is just a way of saying "My spirit is living on forever even though my body may not"? Well, I may sound like total retard saying that, but oh well. |
