| Incubus – A Crow Left of the Murder Lyrics | 17 years ago |
you are a fool. i agree that this is a great album, and ben kenney's a decent bassist. but if you think dirk lance sucks, you are a literal retarded person. and if you don't like brandon's lyrics, you haven't a single poetic microbe in your weak body. |

| My Morning Jacket – Highly Suspicious Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i heard this song on the radio a couple times, and i never knew who it was. to be honest, i thought it was prince for a while. then i bought the cd, simply because mmj is a solid band and i wanted to hear what they were up to these days, and i flipped my shit when i heard this song on the cd. that aside, this song reminds me of getting fucked up, the "tapping your lines" bit especially. and then the bit about "wasting all your time on drama, could be solving real crimes" reminds me of how pointless and counterproductive the war on drugs [especially marijuana] is. not to mention the references to shit going on in people's heads. and if THAT didn't give it away, listen to jim's vocals when the backup vocals start "highly suspicious"ing. jim james never actually says "highly suspicious." "i'm hiiiighh [highly suspicious of you]" he's just saying he's high. then, before the solo or whatever, he says "i'm hiiiiiighhhh" and goes into a fit of laughter. and i'm not one of those people who thinks every song is about drugs. seems to me that most of the songs on Evil Urges are actually about sex. oh, and if you think this is "such a crappy song," why don't you listen to the guitars, dipshit? |
| Toadies – Dollskin Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love this song. i just saw the band live for the first time on their reunion tour, and they played this song as one of their closers. it's one of the most peaceful and beautiful songs i've ever heard live. |
| King Crimson – Starless Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i charge you to name a better prog-rock band than King Crimson. seriously. ELP? Supertramp? Yes? Rush? all wonderful bands, but none as inventive or original as this band. robert fripp is the fucking man. |
| King Crimson – One More Red Nightmare Lyrics | 17 years ago |
does anyone know the lyrics to the omitted bit? it says *see note* but i see no note. |
| The Beatles – Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this board is perpetually trolled by 13 year olds who don't know shit about drugs and thus refuse to believe that one of the greatest bands in rock history would EVER write songs about LSD or pot. nay, not the Beatles. never. |
| King Crimson – Neurotica Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song honestly sounds like an acid trip, but it works on more levels than that. i agree with the metaphor about the "concrete jungle." this song is nothing less than poetry, accompanied by some kick-ass freeform jazz. you can hear how this type of music influenced such bands as Plot To Blow Up the Eiffel Tower and The Mars Volta. |
| Kings of Leon – Milk Lyrics | 17 years ago |
reading the comments on this song make me fucking hate this site. you fucking people over-analyse the shit out of everything. stop it. |
| Gallows – In the Belly of a Shark Lyrics | 17 years ago |
you guys are all fucking ridiculous. i guess it's true that all people who listen to punk rock are angry. and jaiandrews7, i thought your first comment was hilarious. it's a shame that all these punker kids don't understand that sort of humour. |
| Scouts Of St. Sebastian – In Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i'm going to go out on a limb and say the only reason pretty much anyone has ever heard of this song is because of Guitar Hero III. talk shit about the game if you will, but it's an undeniable fact that the Guitar Hero games have exposed the public to a lot of music that would otherwise remain unknown. |
| Black Sabbath – War Pigs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the next person who mentions bush needs to be slapped. have any of you pinko fucks considered that this song was recorded in what, 1970? quit talking about the war on iraq. go shave your head and listen to some green day, you fucking homos. also, if you listen to system of a down's BYOB, it's a blatant knock-off of this song. almost verbatim in parts. it's actually the reason i don't like SoaD that much anymore. |
| The Dresden Dolls – Mandy Goes to Med School Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| ughh i can't read about abortions any longer. | |
| Toadies – Tyler Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| oh, this song is SO about rape. | |
| Pixies – Crackity Jones Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| haha i always think of crack withdrawals, i.e. "jones?" | |
| Agent Sparks – Polly Anne Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love this band. this song is one of my favorites. haha i think the a-onetwothreefourfivesix bit does it for me. it's kind of depressing though. basically, it sounds like polly anne sucks at life. :-\ |
| Hellogoodbye – Two Weeks In Hawaii Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the only hellogoodbye song i liek. and i love it. |
| The Offspring – Mota Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i haven't smoked in over 3 months but i'm not opposed to it. i just hate seeing people make their whole fucking life about it. what a waste. don't get me wrong, i enjoy it but i can't stand when that's all people talk about. good times yeah, but not all the time. |
| Minus the Bear – The Fix Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i like how 93% of their songs involve drinking. | |
| Kings of Leon – Holy Roller Novocaine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i didn't know about the priest business i always just thought the song was about rape. |
| Pearl Jam – Even Flow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| it's obviously a song about a retarded kid named Even Flow, who chases butterflies. | |
| ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead – Will You Smile Again? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i'm not a huge fan of the intro [it's a little too abrupt or something] but i love the simplicity of the drums throughout the majority of the song. also, the lyrical depth is astounding. |
| Jets to Brazil – Lemon Yellow Black Lyrics | 18 years ago |
personally, i always think of decorating a room or something. "you know what would be good right here? some yellow." the rest is just... beyond me. |
| Sonic Youth – Incinerate Lyrics | 18 years ago |
if the band's lyricist jumped off the brooklyn bridge, this might be the greatest band in history. every word spoken, however, makes me want to die. |
| Sonic Youth – Kool Thing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i really like this band. the instrumentals are so beautiful. but their lyrics pretty much suck. they don't make sense, they're grammatically obscene, and their attempts at depth simply fall flat. if sonic youth was an instrumental band, they'd be one of my favorites. i just think they should lay off the huffing. it's not doing much good. |
| Count Zero – Dream A Million Stars Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| "dunce on daddy's high horse?" sounds like a certain US president lol. | |
| Count Zero – Radium Eyes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i know a girl with radium eyes. i should tell her so, next chance i get. (: |
| Ministry – Jesus Built My Hotrod Lyrics | 18 years ago |
at the beginning, when he's talking about langing his lingalong dangalong or whatever, the hidden track at teh end of incubus' Calgone comes to mind. you know, where that guy with the deep voice is saying all that shit? check it out. it's the last song on their S.C.I.E.N.C.E. album. after the song, the swearing, and then the autopsy report, it goes into a 10-minute experimental psychedelic trip. |
| Fuel – Innocent Lyrics | 18 years ago |
is fuel a Christian band or something? because i've noticed that a lot of their lyrics are spiritual in nature. and i know that doesn't qualify them as a Christian band, but i have to wonder. |
| The Pillows – Advice Lyrics | 18 years ago |
actually, this song kicks so much ass it's not even funny. it's an excellent fight song, and utilised flawlessly in FLCL. |
| of Montreal – Tim I Wish You Were Born a Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this almost reminds me of a tenacious D song. except, a lot less vulgar. and more mellow. but the irony of the whole thing cracks me up. i love this song. second only to wraith pinned to the mist. |
| Incubus – Calgone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
man, what's up with that creepy autopsy report after the end of the song? is it real or what? because it sounds like something the band would do just for kicks. |
| The Faint – Drop Kick the Punks Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yeh, this is pretty much my favorite faint song. | |
| Botch – Afghamistam Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i don't get the tahoma bit. everything else makes sense. |
| Justin Timberlake – Dick in a Box (feat. Andy Samberg) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
holy crap. is this an actual song?? |
| Quasi – The Rhino Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is my favorite quasi song. i think it's about dreams... or the government or something lol. i just like the way it sounds. it kinda sounds like finding freedom from the world, the government, from everything, in your dreams. |
| Rage Against the Machine – Killing In The Name Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i can play this song on guitar hero!!! | |
| Polysics – Mr. Roboto Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i think this is a pretty good cover. i'm not too crazy about covers in general, but i'm game for a good remake. | |
| Evan and Jaron – Crazy For This Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is one of those song that i want so badly to hate... but it's too beautiful. | |
| Leonard Cohen – Chelsea Hotel #2 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
from time to time? lol. didn't she die from an overdose? |
| Never Heard Of It – Underage Lyrics | 19 years ago |
yeah, it's a pretty straightforward song. most of theirs are. in any case, i'm just curious as to whether this was based on an actual struggle, or if it's just a song about a hypothetical conflict. |
| Incubus – Warning Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i dunno what it has to do with the rest of the song, but i noticed in the lyrics inside the cd case, it says "i suggest we / learn to love each OTHER," rather than "ourselves," as the song actually says. just thought that was kind of odd. |
| Prince – Let's Go Crazy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
dude... fucking learn how to spell. |
| Horse the Band – Thus Spake The Kangarooster Lyrics | 19 years ago |
someone made a video for this song [i think it was some random-ass person, and not a member of the band..] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPbr1MExw-Y |
| Botch – O Fortuna Lyrics | 19 years ago |
does anyone else recognise "sors immanis / et inanis" from A One-Winged Angel from the final fantasy vii soundtrack? well, it's there. in the advent children remix, the song sounds bad-a, but they fucked it up. the lyrics are all different. |
| Weezer – We Are All on Drugs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| all weezer's new stuff sucks. i had to listen to this whole cd on the way to florida one time. it was torture. it doesn't even SOUND like weezer. it sounds like... some ... i dunno, good charlotte or something. | |
| Noise Ratchet – Crush Lyrics | 19 years ago |
okayyy... am i the only one to notice that the singer says something about feeling the same way "about me" as you do about "her." yes, i know this is a mandy moore cover, but wouldn't it seem natural for a GUY BAND to change the pronouns a tiny bit so it doesn't sound like ... gay love? |
| The Dresden Dolls – Sex Changes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| oh yeah, with my theory at the end, i think she purposely said "clock" all high so it would indeed sound like "cock." | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Sex Changes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
mmk, when i first heard this song, and saw the title, i thought it was about having a sex change operation. see, the title is "sex changes," so i took it to mean "sex change operations." what with "your application's been accepted"; obviously, a sex change isn't something you can just walk up and have done on a whim. plus, i thought she said something about chopping your cock off, [i think the actual word is "clock."] and then the whole "no money back" thing, as in you can't go back to being a dude. but then i noticed a few lyrics in the song that struck me funny and decided to look them up. and i've come to the realisation that the song title means sex CHANGES, as in, it changes people. take for example the line, "... guys will be boys that don't cry over toys that they use to beat girls they despise by the morning." the toys are of course, penii. this alludes to the belief that sex doesn't mean much to guys, that they just want to hit and quit. ["... girls they despise by the morning."] ... which goes along with "the boys'll murder for it..." "once you get a taste for it you'll keep on cutting." AND "you'll keep on having to feed it tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow." this says that sex is addictive, and once you do it you'll want it more and more. "... and how you'd love to have a little thing with which to play." sounds like penis envy to me. "you'll get more than you asked for without the right protection." without a condom or something, you could get a disease, or pregnant. [which leads to the abortion bit.] ["you'll never get to hear the pitter patter of this little feat of engineering." feat of engineering = a baby.] i think the title was assigned the way it was for a reason. it ALMOST sounds as though the song uses a sex change as a metaphor for CHANGE resulting from SEX. wow, this band is a lot deeper than i thought! they're like the david lynch of music lol. [or stanley kubrick. they have the whole "clockwork orange" theme, at least in my opinion.] |
