Well I believe this song is about a secret love too or what i like to call it a 'forbidden relationship'. The beginning is like the girl is creeping out to see him, or metaphically speaking keeping herself and him unnoticed from everybody, pulling that door shut quietly. The 'darling, what are you doing? we dont have time for this' is like one of them saying that they shouldnt be doing what they are doing because there is a high risk of getting caught. Love has always been known to make people to crazy things, which is what the "Crazy, what are you then?" part means. "give me an hour and ill give you your dreams" because these two can't see each other so much or so long, an hour can be fulfilling his or her dreams to be with them. The chorus is about them hiding themselves from everybody's opinions about them. Well the rest i cant be stuffed interpreting. XD |

Yeah i believe this song is about doing crazy stupid things without any conscious thought, or caring about consequences. Like being drunk for instance, you're like "in the middle of a dream". The "i see knives out" part, i think represents danger and risks this person is trying to avoid, until he hears a 'train coming', which is bigger and hits harder than a knife and because this person is an idiot he stays on the track and falls into danger. The second verse kinda represents how people are usually like in a drunk-state. They 'get caught in the fever' and think that they are in love with people. Then the verse continues with 'started howling, made no sense' like they are on top of the world without a single worry on them, just a bunch of kids having fun. And the 'i thought my friends would rush to my defence' is pretty self explanitory, when all your friends are as drunk as you are...there is really nobody else out there to help you. =O |

Well heres my interpratation of the first couple lines: Space monkey in the place to be (Space Monkey- a metaphor for someone who is used for someone’s personal gain, living and suffering for someone else like a laboratory mouse used for experiments and stuff) Lying in a rocket to a planet of sound (The ‘lying in the rocket’ can mean taking a journey to this life of a confused state of noises or people ‘planet of sound’) Shooting the moon, playing dominoes and drag (don’t know what the moon is, but I believe the ‘playing dominoes’ means making one decision/action that creates an impact on something else, what people call the domino effect or the butterfly effect , and ‘playing… drag’ can maybe mean the act of dressing like a drag queen, an identity that is totally not you, it fact opposite) An increasing population of 100 percent (Maybe referring that everybody is a ‘space monkey’ in there own way) With a chemical peal and a picture of Mary (Chemical peel- this was harder to figure out but I think it might mean someone who wants to cleanse their face, and remove the ‘dirt’ to fit a representation of a picture of Mary who is innocent and pure) Out on a limb in the carnival of me (Carnival of me- could be referring to this person as a ‘carnival’ who someone to have fun with, in other words, an object of pleasure) these might be interpreted differently to you, but then again any song can be interpreted in many different ways |
