i can't make out what the woman is saying in the background, not even at the end when it's just her. it sorta sounds like someone talking over a loudspeaker at least that's what i first thought of, and then i started thinking it sounded sort of like an answering message as well, except there's no introduction (like a "hey, it's __, etc) and no pausing/hesitation in the voice for thought process. still no idea what any of the actual words she says are... anyone else figure it out? it always sticks out when i listen to this song and i'm so curious. |

my favorite sonic youth song! (it was my gateway drug.) I'm not so sure what it means, though the prostitution thing is convincing. It's just so awesome! i love it. |

this was listed the number one saddest song in a list made on spinner. i've never heard it before now.
it reminds me of my neighbor who committed suicide with the car running in the garage. she was middle-aged and unmarried, living alone. it is pretty sad if you think about it, but i still don't think it's the saddest song... it doesn't even look too popular either. |

this is a very good song, probably my favorite by the most serene republic. it's hard for me to extract the meaning out of the lines, but from the beginning it sounds like it's about a "safe, comfortable" relationship and everything is okay. and maybe at times the don't agree, like worshipaandc said, but all couples have their disagreements and in the end "you're what i want". |
