Cold War Kids – We Used to Vacation Lyrics 17 years ago
...does anyone else think of "Babylon Revisited" by F. Scott Fitzgerald while listening to this song? Obviously, the setting is not the same, but it sounds as though the two central characters are both feeling the same thing and speaking from the same place.

Maybe it was just because I first heard the song shortly after reading the story. Either way, brilliant song.

Gnarls Barkley – Open Book Lyrics 17 years ago
I thought instead of "The winter is here and cold," he was singing "The winter is even colder?" Could be wrong, but that's what I heard.

Anyway, this song reminds me a lot of "Storm Coming," in that both songs are from the perspective of a person with some of mythic powers stemming their musical abilities. Obviously, this is more metaphorical than realistic power, and thus both songs seem to be commenting on the power of music. Here, that power seems more of curse than blessing. It is because of that power that the singer urges the listener to kill him, likely because he feels he has abused his powers in some way, or perhaps because he is an affront to the current musical culture?

Regardless, love this song and the rest of the new album.

Guano Apes – Diokhan Lyrics 19 years ago
The lyrics should be "Calling out the name of Diokhan," because, after all, that is the title. I listened to the song a couple more times to check... and I always hear "Diokhan" not "D.K." So... yes. I have no idea who/what Diokhan is, but I do enjoy this song.
