| The Magnetic Fields – The Sun Goes Down And The World Goes Dancing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song never fails to cheer me up. The line about the endless nights when I wished I could still cry hints at undertones of sadness, but this song is still so happy. It's the sort of happy where even if sadness and depression are lingering, they are so buried and repressed because the happiness is too strong not to thrive. | |

| The Magnetic Fields – Born on a Train Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Vampires aside, I think this song's narrator is too depressed to stay with their lover or to continue living at all. "And turns into walking dead like me." This person is depressed, just going through the motions, not really living. I like how this "But honey nobody’s gonna hurt you anymore, And nobody’s gonna make you want to die." is followed by the chorus of "I've been making promises I know I'll never keep." It sort of negates everything that has just been said. "But some people don’t believe in dying, And some of us don’t believe in life." Suicidal? All of this may be completely off. It doesn't really make total sense since the song is all about being "born on a train" and constantly moving and traveling, but I think it can certainly be seen the way I'm interpreting it to some extent. Maybe? |

| pretty straightforward song about remembering a relationship and missing the person you were with and what you shared with them. so sad and beautiful. | |
| The Magnetic Fields – When You're Old And Lonely Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is like the speaker is saying all this to someone that they really want to be with..kind of to convince the person to want to be with them too. I thinks it's cute and funny. | |

This song is so sweet. It's just about being so in love with someone that so fully completes your life and being excited and happy about being with that person. When I listen to it I just think of that feeling you get when you see someone you love. That rush of happiness is what he's feeling when he sees his boy walking down the street. I love this song! |

This song is kinda like The Magnetic Fields' version of "Baby It's Cold Outside." Like..the speaker is just saying anything to get the girl or guy to stay. It's cute. The speaker knows that if he/she can convince the person to stay (not just the night..just with them and in the relationship) that they'll end up really falling in love. The last line doesn't really tie into this little explanation, though...or maybe it does and I just don't see it. Anyway, this is a great song and it has a fun background to it. |
