this album The Anti Mother is based around anything that seems/seemed nice or beautiful to you at first but is/was actually deceiving. so drugs, ex girlfriends, your mom or that 7th grade teacher you thought you actually had a chance with but got you suspended after you grabbed her butt; can all fit into this category. and yes, i'am a tool haha. |

@ sointoyou- i know this wasn't intended for me, but stevo never replied so i will do you the favor. you wear that cross like a crown, you wear that cross like a dagger you wear your Christianity on your sleeve, you use your Christianity to judge people and cast stones. Daniel said he left because he felt Norma Jean wasn't being used as a ministry anymore... and while i love the anti-mother, i agree with him. O'God was full of Christian lyrics, Redeemer less so and the anti-mother is getting really far away. its too bitter and angry to be used as a ministry.. "we will burn for this, we will both of us burn"??? not exactly uplifting. |

Stevo, I'm not talking about the kind of slavery the Civil War was fought over. I'm talking about being a servant and being a servant is basically a slave. I understand what you mean, and I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just coming from the point that we're servants of God and a servant is to me a PC word for slave. And in the Bible Jesus says at one point "I no longer call you slaves, but friends". but i like you stevo, you seem to be a smart guy with a great Christian outlook. |

is this not sac-religious? from what i get, its from the view of Satan and for Hetfield to write from the view of Satan asking you to give your soul to him.. i just don't know. i'm a Christian but i dig heavy music and this cd but it makes me feel condemned to listen to this song. to bang my head to Satan telling me to give him my soul. what do you guys think? |

well to me it means one of two things. 1. she as in his relationship or love for God that gives him such strength under any circumstance. or 2. hes madly in love with some girl and she gives him the strength to carry on no matter what. either way, this is a great song. |

yes i'am a born again christian. and i see what youre saying. but cory states "i dont care, we dont care, no one seems to care". by that as i said i believe hes saying most people dont care, and at times even the ones that care catch themselves just going through the motions and not serving God to the fullest extent. i catch myself doing that at times. but if he is asking why dont we care i think its pretty obvious. it takes an effort to serve God and most people don't want to fool with it. its easier to just do your own thing and not worry about serving God. thats why i love the last line so much 'hell will have no mercy'. it seems to me hes trying to get people to realize where they are and that Hell is real and no one wants to go there but you will if you've not given your life to God. |

im not gonna break down every line about what i think it means but i'll try to throw some stuff down. its talking about how noone cares about serving God. noone listens everyone thinks its gonna be alright and unless youre borned again its not gonna be ok. this fight is more important than your life, it is your life. or if youll have life after death. they're talking about helping people and laying everything out there for what they believe in. and truly, hell will have no mercy. thats such a powerful and true line. |

reading NJ soldiers comment makes me sick. For one Norma Jean is a Christian band. Its a sin to fornicate which means have sex before youre married and ALL Norma Jean lyrics are in one way or another about God. They're not gonna write about having pre-marital relations. I'll break down each line "Like death never content, starve the old and feed the new". Its saying people are never satisfied for what God does for them and that you shouldnt feed your carnal mind but satisfy your relationship with God. "was there love once or have i forgotten her?" it seems to me that hes talking about struggling with relgion and his love for fellow mankind. have been sold into slavery" hes talking about being a servant to God. "i try to drown my sorrows but the sorrow swims well, its all your fault" hes talking about his struggle with Satan and that his downfalls are the devils fault. "a lust for complete nothingness that lusts for nothing more" referring to not lusting after things of this world but to live your life for God. motion without meaning, action without funtion" people are doing there own thing and not serving God but seeking there own satisfaction in the world. "nothing will breed nothing, its all your fault" if you dont work for God then nothing good is coming from your faith. and its scripture that faith without works doesnt bare good fruit. again, its all your fault is referring to satan. "why can't you brace yourself" as in getting ready for the battle with satan and preparing yourself for his temptations. i know everyone has their own opinion, and you might not see the song the same way as i do, but for goodness sake it doesnt have anything to do with cory having pre-marital sex. |
