| Oasis – D'You Know What I Mean? Lyrics
|
Before their success the Gallaghers were deadbeat losers. The shithole town you're from doesn't care about you. The sun doesn't raise an eye to you. Nobody is going to ask twice. You claim the air you breathe or you die. But don't dwell on this.
Instead of stubbornly and hopelessly clinching your fist you should open your hand and grab what you want. Get off the floor, get on the bus, make your maker cry and let the world know you exist. A song about seizing life. |

Memorable vocal performance. Mac, being 21 at the time of recording, is incredibly talented. Check out some of the live versions available on youtube, many are quite amazing. |

Good post, I have tried submitting this edit as well. Some other commenters here also got the lyrics better. |

To me this is a beautiful allegory for Jai's persona, and by extension his music, contra conformity and popularity. Will Jai fade into obscurity running with his wolves or affiliate himself with fools and thieves and make it big? Time, or whether he can make us fall in love with him, will tell. |

I think this is a love song. Jai Paul is singing about his unrequited love for music, interchangibly refering to it as a relationship. The sample at the end is an old Indian tune on the same topic: http://youtu.be/LxXeIU2e974?t=3m4s |

I agree with mad about the boy. There is also an undertone of bitterness, as a follow up to the question why she bothers hanging around. Maybe she wants to do what they used to do together; frowning upon others? Well, there are plenty of others to frown upon. |
