That's the thing about Cornell's lyrics - very cryptic, but quite open to interpretation. Usually, you find one or two lines that have a somewhat specific meaning, but the theme and the sound of the song set the tone, with the lyrics themselves proposing a need for personal identification. With this song, there is definitely a questioning of religion, but what entices me the most is: "Bloody murder is the best I've heard her scream Holy devil in the flesh some might believe" Un-ethereal. |

| Didn't realize it was used in the "Miami Vice" movie. "Wide Awake" was, as well, but for the wrong reason - that song has real meaning, and the movie didn't reflect that. | |

| While I agree with Runningace18's comments about the failed relationship, I actually like to believe that this is a song sung in a first person account of an actualy dog. When listening to the song, I actually find it quite touching. I like both ways, but listening to the song sung by Chris as though he was an actualy dog singing to his master makes it grow on a whole different level. | |
