I think it could be a metaphor for the music scene which is like a war zone everyone coming in all starry eyed and hoping to make it big but everyone gets shot down and even if your the last ones around (the ones who made it big) you still gotta knock down all the little ones who are keeping it real and not selling out and that's just if you want to keep it up for now but if you want to be a real god you gota die young while you are still at the top of your game so you are forever in that spot
