of Montreal – Suffer for Fashion Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's a song about youth - their indifference and what they whole sacred. They care about how they look (suffer for fashion), yet try not to have personal attachments even though they do "Please call to say that you miss me, feel me, or whatever" and their friends (the line about keeping their clique "clicking.}" I think sirens are indeed a reference to Greek mythology, and the person is realizing people do indeed get old.

Instead of growing old, though, the person has other plans, "If we've got to burn out, let's do it together." It's kind of an FU to growing old.

M. Ward – Hi-Fi Lyrics 19 years ago
I can't believe no one has commented on this. One of my favorite songs by m. Ward. I love the line: "Why burn your bridges?
when you can blow your bridges up" I think it's all about letting go and not caring and letting music take over.

Sleater-Kinney – Get Up Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is more about letting yourself go to someone else than death and dying. It's all about desire and I think the line "I hit the mark!
I target moon, I target sky, I target sun." refers to the person climaxing. Something or someone is calling on her in the background, but she's so far gone, it's too late. It's about sex.
