| Harry Chapin – Flowers Are Red Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love this song... it really tells about how the world wants everyone to be the same, to be normal, and not have any creativity or be set apart from others. It really is a sad song, because that really is how most people think. | |
| Fall Out Boy – 7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is about a guy who is feeling desperate enough that he would date, or have sex with anyone. Hence the lyric, "I'm sleeping my way out of this one, with anyone who'll lie down." "I'll be stuck fixated on one star, when the world is crashing down." means that one girl is all he'll focus on, no matter what, until he gets her. "I keep telling myself, I keep telling myself, I'm not the desperate type, but you've got me looking in through blinds." means that he's very desperate. "Sitting out dances on the wall, trying to forget everything that isn't you. I'm not going home alone 'cause I don't do too well on my own" - This means that he can't quit thinking about one girl. So much that he can't even dance, or party. And his mind is set on getting this girl, because he's not going home alone. |

| Fall Out Boy – Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is about a boy who is in love with a girl, but this girl is with someone else. He is trying to convince her that he's better than her boyfriend, telling her that he isn't always there for her, and she hates the boyfriend more than she notices. But the boy also realizes in the song that he isn't making a big enough commitment to win her over: "Someday I'll appreciate in value, get off my ass and call you." The title's a play on the video game "Grand Theft Auto." | |
| Fall Out Boy – Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The original title was, "My Name Is David Ruffin And These Are The Temptations," which is a reference to how Ruffin tried to change the Temptations' name to "David Ruffin and The Temptations," which Motown had done with "Diana Ross and The Supremes." Ruffin overestimated his popularity and was fired from the group in 1968 when he alienated his band mates with his ego and histrionics. Although he was a very talented singer and performed lead vocals on many of The Temptations hits, the group went on without him and had several more hits; Ruffin died of a cocaine overdose in 1991. The song is a warning about the trappings of fame, and if Fall Out Boy kept the original title, they would have risked a lawsuit from Ruffin's estate. | |
| Fall Out Boy – A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More "Touch Me" Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This is my favorite FOB song ever, but I hate the video cause there's so many interuptions during the song. | |
| Tom Petty – Free Fallin' Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The lyrics describe a relationship between a "good girl" and a "bad boy." The "good girl" loves Jesus and horses, while the "bad boy" breaks her heart and doesn't even miss her. Imagery of the Los Angeles area is evident throughout the song, with references to: 'Reseda' - a neighbourhood of Los Angeles 'The valley' - the San Fernando Valley, in which Reseda is located. 'Ventura Boulevard' - a primary east-west thouroughfare in the San Fernando Valley. 'Mulholland' - a reference to Mulholland Drive, a well-known road in Los Angeles. In interviews, Tom Petty says the song was written after a roadie purchased a keyboard that Tom did not particularly care for. The roadie told Tom that if he wrote one song on it, that it would pay for itself. Tom ended up writing "Free Fallin'" on the keyboard, and played the opening riff for Jeff Lynne, his producer. "Just to make Jeff smile I sang 'She's a good girl, loves her mama' and from there I wrote the first and second verses completely spontaneously," Petty said. Axl Rose once asked Tom how he came up with the line about vampires ('All the vampires walkin through the valley') to which Tom replied, "When I'm driving, sometimes I see these shadowy-looking people just off the sidewalks, around the post office. I always thought of them as vampires for some reason." |
