| Biffy Clyro – Living Is a Problem Because Everything Dies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think it sounds like Goblin. Good song though. | |
| Placebo – Twenty Years Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The line 'And many friends I’d hope, Though some may hold the rose, some hold the rope.' Has been discussed but I don't think those discussing it have the exact meaning (in my view). To me, he is saying there are many friends to be had, to be met... However as much as some will become true friends, some will be sycophants, some will be there for him, some won't... some will love him... some will hurt him... I think its the best line in the song. |

| Placebo – Where Is My Mind? (Pixies cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The Placebo version sounds exactly like the Pixies version, unlike most Placebo covers which change the tone dramatically. If you want a really cool version check out 'Soulmates Never Die' DVD for the performance with Frank Black (Pixies). |

I think this version is so much more beautiful and melodic than the English version. I actually won a bottle of champagne singing this version in a competition :) |

| Kanye West – Through The Wire Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It doesn't matter what he pretends to be. He isn't actually like his persona whether he portrays it in person or not. Listen to Last Call on TCD. Thats humility. | |
| Kanye West – Welcome to Heartbreak Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song, to me, is about his regret at the choices he made in regards to being so career focused. He has missed opportunites in regards to love/family etc and now as he gets more mature he sees that everything he strived for, isn't 'everything'. A counter point to Love Lockdown. |
|
| Kanye West – Love Lockdown Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song, to me, is about a relationship that is not going to work because of what he's doing, career wise. Its about loving someone but refusing to be with them; despite what either of them wants. I think its important to see that its 'love lockdown' and not 'love lockeddown' as it changes the context significantly. To say, I'm keeping my love lock down is to say you don't want to (or won't) fall in love. In this song, to submit to love would be to give up everything else; which he ultimately won't do. Also worth mentioning that Welcome to Heartbreak is the counterpoint to this as he is regretting being so focused on his career and not focusing enough on family/relationships/love. |

Thomp, I completely agree with you. Its not to his birth mother, but to Mother War. |

| Robbie Williams – Supreme Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Interestingly I am on the Robbie williams board to completely slaughter Rudebox when I mentioned 2 songs I can stand by him. This is one. And like Foxwing it is because of the melodic bridge in the song as opposed to Robbies great writing (wtf? is that a joke?) and it does sound similar to I will survive yes, but isn't it the tune from Rocky? | |
| Robbie Williams – Rudebox Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I never go to post on a board purely to say this song is shit... but today Im going to. Before people hit the roof, I'll say it now.. I don't like RW... infact I hate him. His music is utter bollocks, there may have been one or two songs I could stand the full way through but I still hate him. Overrated isn't the word. If this guy was singing in my local pub I'd only go to throw something at him. That said, I didn't even think he had it in him to make something so poor. The song actually makes me feel uncomfortable. I hate him yes, but I never thought I'd hate him enough to post on this board about him. This song changes everything. It may be the most uncomfortable, piece of garbage I've ever heard. I completely agree that when (not if) this charts, it is a complete disgrace to music in general. | |
| My Chemical Romance – Jack the Ripper (Morrissey cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Exactly. Without the passion MCr put into it, it sounds like M. is reading a poem aloud which (to me) doesn't suit the song. | |
| Dropkick Murphys – I'm Shipping Up to Boston Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song is excellent. Its also used in The Departed. |

Well said Dag_102. Excellent post. |

| My Chemical Romance – Jack the Ripper (Morrissey cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I know I'll get slated for this, but this is one of the rare times that a Morrissey song is covered and is better than the original. I'm a huge fan of both MCR and M, but I feel this song, the lyrics and all round feel of the song is suited better to the passion MCR put into it. The original is good, there's no debating that, but I think this one is better. As for the meaning, it's pretty self explanitory. |

| My Chemical Romance – Demolition Lovers Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Am I the only one who thinks this may be the most romantic song ever? Man I'd love to go out like this. Just me, the girl I love, an open road of possibilities... and a hail of bullets. |

| Ryan Adams – Come Pick Me Up Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is amazing. By far my favourite Adams song. I always took the 'screw my friends' bit to mean, fuck them, as its followed up with, 'they're all full of shit' and in the context of the rest of the song, its like yeah she's bad for him, his friends continually remind him of this and probably tell him to forget about her, and he's saying fuck them. I don't wanna forget. |

Exactly. textbooklnf, well said on both posts. |

| My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Then god help you I guess. The wanted to become a mix of The Misfits, Maiden & The Smiths. Their first album can't be caterogized so, its put in the post hardcore punk. The whole point of songs like 'Headfirst for Halo's' is so they wouldn't be pigeon holed. |
|
| My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Oh and I reiterate the point about 'Life On The Murder Scene' to people saying this isnt MCR, wheres the blood etc. You actually see Gerard getting pissed at the amount of photoshoots using shit like that and he admits its his fault because he loves horrors comics etc and said at the first couple of photoshoots, blood... I want blood!!! But everyone ran with it. |

Thing that annoys me is the only thing 'emo' about My Chemical Romance is the 'Helena' video and look that followed. If you wanna say they have an emo song in 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' then fair enough but their not an emo band. Their first album wasn't emo, their second album had 1 song on it, so much so that these boards are covered in posts like; This song sucks, its not like them at all; or This band sold out Etc etc etc. The truth is they make concept albums and they are very serious and passionate about what they are doing. Gerards new hair is case in point, the back lash from 'emo' people because of this. So fuck. He is, ike the rest of the band changing their image to go with the concept of the album, much as he did the album before. They are evolving. All these peeps that criticize etc should watch 'Life On The Murder Scene' and they would almost def change their opinions. THIS BAND IS NOT EMO. They are post hardcore punk. What everyone should remember is that if Greenday where coming out now they'd be classed as Pop or emo. And thats aload of balls. Billie Joe wears the stereotypical emo outfit. But they ain't emo and quite right. Fuckin half wits just need to class everything and everyone. Fuck that. |
