NOFX – The Marxist Brothers Lyrics 19 years ago
I really don't think this song is supposed to be criptic at all. The message I take from it is the same I've taken from so many other songs on previous records. Their ability to make fun of their own views, lifestyles, and idiosyncrasies.

I believe they're simply poking fun at themselves. After all, they have grown to be much more political since they began in the mid-80s. Mike stated in a recent interview on Pita2.org that he didn'ty give much thought to animal rights til he heard some of the stuff Propagandhi put out.

In songs like 'Thank God It's Monday' and '60% (reprise)' they talk about how they make enough money to have the good things and life and not work very much, so is it really that crazy to think Mike's actually got a Visa Gold Platinum card with frequent flier mileage?

"We took the bus to the anarchist's bookfair
I left the Hybrid at home."

Again, I think these dudes probably do own Hybrids. They're simply joking on the fact that they're really not anarchists (at least not in the true sense) anymore.

And about the records they mention, I don't think they are trashing anyone. It seems completely reasonable that they actually do like those albums.

Anyways, I'm rambling, I just feel this song isn't ment to be cryptic, I think its a straightforward admission they they're all disenfranchised folks who also happen to be filthy rich, and about how ironic it is. Here's a cool link as well that has some more info on the Propagandhi reference
