to t3gan7: "find a (gerard) way" was a joke. a lot of this album can be oddly interpretted as being linked to gerard way, but this song is a love song about berts girlfriend i think. :) |

| those who think its about Chadam, do you really think the used would write lyrics about a fictional character? its like with mcr, the patient idea was created afterwards either to cover up what the lyrics actually meant or add the depth of a concept story to them. im pretty sure that the songs would have been written first and then Chadams story written around them. | |

i just listened to this on their myspace and im pretty certain its about Gerard Way. theres a quieter sort of interlude part where bert puts on a voice and says: "i dont feel okay, i dont feel alright, Help me, i dont know." teamed with his mad laughing that he so good at. the whole "not feeling okay" thing is in this song and pretty handsome awkward which is also most definately about Gerard. it does sound like his bad drink and drugs days. if he is 'The Liar' it makes me wonder what he did... |

i think it could be about Bert. the patient was created after the songs were written and the story was made to fit around the lyrics to cover up their actual meanings. but i dunno, it seems very intense if it is about their relationship, but then again we dont really know what happened. the lyrics berts written for the new album are also very intense and we 'know' some of those are about gerard: pretty handsome awkward. |

the chorus makes this their most heterosexual song. noticed how he misses the word 'arms' out after a while. "to get back in her-r-r" and makes sotra growling noises. anyways, i the chorus doesnt seem to fit with the rest of the song. the verses are all anarchy and rebellion, and the chorus is about going home and being in a girls arms. i suppose you could look at it like he's fed up and just wants to go back to his girl |

'the way' is definite reference to Gerard Way. the line can work as 'out of his mind', 'mind the way' and 'the way pushes him, whispering...' bert is personifying 'the way' as if it is physically pushing him. ... also i think (as in a lot of the used songs) by 'he' Bert refers to himself. a way of writing about things you find hard to deal with, is putting the perspective into 3rd person. ... im not saying its all about gerard way, but bert is definately caught up about something that happened between them. i think this song is about a side of himself he doesnt like and is running (or crawling) from. theres something in his mind he wants to get away from. |

to be honest. i think very little of that was intentional. could gerard really write a whole song that made perfect sense forwards and backwards? i think the end of the song in reverse was most probably planned. i can imagine gerard sitting with a tape recorder quoting phrases into it that were to depressive to reveal in the actual song and playing it backwards to see if it worked. most people know that gerard was in a 'bad place' for some time. |

The Patient is a facade. to make it easier for Gerard to portray his issues in the songs. any song on the album could be applied to the Patients story, as could any of them be interpretted in a completely different way. you see what you want to see. |
