I believe win butler was raised in the woodlands. And while I've never lived there, I have visited and have friends who grew up there as well. My impressions were that is was a creepy, wealthy suburb. This is hearsay, but by friends told me that a local kid was murdered a fews years back (by drug dealers i believe)and the local newspaper didn't mention it, for fear of tarnishing the neighborhood i guess. It seems like growing up in that environment influenced much of the band's songwriting. |
