P.S.: "Way back when the prophecies began Do you think they really had a master plan Or were they merely writing fables, stories? I don't know but it has occurred to me The punishment that they threaten constantly It's only real if they could just convince me" He feels religion was originally just stories and fables...very true...and hey, "i know when i'm wrong"...but... |

Is this a song about atheism? I think so. The only way Tomas says relgion is real is if others could just convince you that theirs is right. the line "if your father really loves you more What about the other families?" asks if other religions are wrong since they believe something else. Other things: "we were never meant to fly" - no such thing as heaven? "Finally, I met a man with kindness in his eye and fire in his heart He said you'll never have to choose a side It's rewarding but oh, the road is hard...." He meets an atheist, being one myself, it is tough having people of different faiths always trying to convince you that you're wrong Mephisto's cafe is where it seems the atheists go to, almost like church, to discuss religion and hang out. the line, "Well I know when I'm wrong and I sure as hell ain't wrong this time" shows he won't back down from what he believes. "Well I know when I'm wrong and I sure as hell ain't wrong this time" |

| Streetlight Manifesto – The Saddest Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Liner notes from Kalnoky: "Next up is the saddest song which happens to be the peppiest and fastest on the cd. Perfect sense. I know. Once again, this began as a slwoer than molasses acoustic guitar and piano song about death. That's practically viagra for EMO kids. So what can I do but ruin it for them? Make it a SKA song, that's what. A fast one. with horns. Booya! Someday we'll re-record all these songs in their original form and release them as a collection of Tori Amos covers. I like how Pete and Dan can't stop doodling in the end. The dueling saxes, those two." |

| Streetlight Manifesto – Everything Went Numb Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Liner notes from Kalnoky: "The subject matter is cliche to say the least and deals with a down on his luck protagonist who resorts to crime to bail himself out of a seemingly hopeless situation (like I said, I was taking in massive amounts of FM at the time. Cut me some slack) Violence comes out of the crime and the anti-hero arrives at the other cliche: "How did I get to this point?" Nothing groundbreaking. Just a stab at "Noir Songwriting" |

| The Lawrence Arms – Warped Summer Extravaganza (Major Excellent) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The song's actual title is called "Warped Summer Extravaganza" I posted an explanation under that title, but here it is again: This is Lawrence Arms just putting their hate of Warped Tour into a song. Rather than join the "dictated economies" they go on their own tour each summer the same time the warped tour takes place. They feel that warped takes away from smaller venues making money, so they offer a cheap tour each year for them...pretty classy |

those are pretty much the lyrics, but a few corrections: "the fringe is the center now, hey boys that's great" "fuck your warped tour yeah! mother fucker!" This is Lawrence Arms just putting their hate of Warped Tour into a song. Rather than join the "dictated economies" they go on their own tour each summer the same time the warped tour takes place.
