i just heard this song for the first time today, and right away it struck me as someone being scared of what has happened before happening again. just as an example, say you let yourself love someone very deeply, and they died or you lost them somehow in a way which was out of your control... maybe you're scared to get involved with someone else because history repeats. everything happens again, because we need the repetition to learn from it. i dunno, it just seems it was reaching out to love but being afraid and not wanting to admit it.

This song has always seemed to me to be an amazing expression of deep love for someone who is your soulmate, if you will. Even if the circumstances of your lives don't afford you the chance to be together, or to have a true goodbye in this life, this doesn't mean the love between the two souls dies. They are bound for eternity. And it sounds to me like Ronan would have been writing for someone he knew deep inside to be his soulmate. I agree very much with interface2x's comment... This song and Forsaken go together in my mind. At first when you lose someone, whether it be to death or whatever, you feel lost and devastated. The world has turned its back on you, and you need that person, but they aren't anywhere. But Beloved, it's just so sweet, and it's on such a higher level of understanding, because you've grown and you have accepted that you can't be with that person, but that your souls will be together forever, no matter what.

I'm reading it as... quite literally, there's a girl that he wants, but it might not work out. Doesn't necessarily mean it won't, but you know how things are sometimes. But music will always be there for him, it's certain, and he can always convey a message through his music. It's like he's hoping she won't close her own gate on him, but the gate of music won't no matter what... However, doesn't make me right about it.

I couldn't decide whether this song was depressing or uplifting... but it felt more happy to me. For me, it feels as though he's talking about a more or less good relationship, but it's not perfect. They may or may not be meant for eachother, but they're enjoying their time together. I guess... I don't know, somehow it almost reminds me of my relationship with my ex boyfriend. We were mostly happy, but at least for me it wasn't going to last. I don't know. Pete's great.

vast just... 100% reminds me of someone i used to talk to. and this song gets me, every time... because I feel as though it's about someone who truly loves someone who probably loves them back, but one of them, maybe both of them is afraid of how deeply they feel about eachother. Maybe one of them ran away from it, but it would only be right to be together.
