I'm a big fan of Mark Hoppus, and honestly, I was quite surprised at how good this song was. You can tell that his musical style has really changed and developed into something better and deeper. This isn't a song that's something Blink 182 or Angels and Airwaves would do. This is something different.

This is a song where a lot of people can relate to: a person is trying to get over a person they were highly infatuated or in love with.
What touches me most is the "But baby I'll tell you something that'll never be true. Baby, I'll get over you."
I guess this means that you try to get over that person, you want to because it hurts too much, but you don't think you're going to be able to let go. And that's understandable, because letting go is hard to do. |

As for the "life effect" part, I think it's meant to be said that things can either come to a good end, or a unexpected and painful one. Whatever happens, just happens. |

This song is sort of like a coming-of-age kind of song, seeing as the person wants to be in love and know what it's like. And even if you are in love, you're not with that person and you want him/her to love you back and know how it feels like. |
