| Kurt Vile – In My Time Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Amazing song. Seems alot of his songs battle with being a pessimistic and trying to enjoy the present. I think thats whats this song is about. He cant decide if the future will be as good as the past. I think this song is the realization that to sit around and dwell on the passing of time blinds you to the fact that right now everything is fine. Right now you have everything you need. You can be happy now. Your living in the now not the past or future. | |

| A song about never being content with what you have are where you are in life. Wasting your life because you cant be happy in the present without having an ideal about what your life "should" have been. | |
| The Clientele – Harvest Time Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I freaking love The Clientele...... These lines some up the meaning... "Bats from the eaves go shivering by Scarecrows watch the verges of light Everything here has a place and a time Were only passing by Its harvest time" The scarecrow doesnt know time and it doesnt know life or death. The world goes on without us. We are passing by. Amazing. |

| Cymbals Eat Guitars – And the Hazy Sea Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This song is great. Hard to find an exact meaning but this is what I got from it. The song is about the history of GWB (George Washington Bridge) It was built in the 50's and has a long history because of it. The bridge is used as a metaphor for a history of human experience crossing it and the feeling of envy to live in the lives and times of other people. Some places you can just feel history call out to you when your there. This is what the GWB is. An emotional attatchment to people and a time you dont know is strange and enveious, but it does happen all the time.( At least to me ) In many times its overwhelming to even think of the length of history in a certain place. "And the way suspension bridges shake When you're stopped behind trucks Sailing into 1999" The emotional sting and yet beauty of time. What a great song. |

I think this song is about the ultimate acceptance of giving up on a normal life and the idea of having full understanding of why everything is the way it is. "hesitate to throw a coin in, a wish could be a bad thing," This is how humans naturaly think always trying to predict outcomes rather good or bad and form a system of logic. "and all the dreams that i awake to read like ghostly paintings and all the things i hate, i wish i didn't have to hate to find a room thats natural to live and die in it, live and die, live and die." We constanly try to read hidden meanings in dreams which in most cases are not there, to validate what were thinking or experencing. The room he is talking about is finding a stabel life that makes sense and to live and die in it. But hes realizing there is no such thing as being normal and having a normal life. "i don't think you know just what you're doing you pretend to know exactly all the things you keep on moving" In an adult life many adults will come to assumpstions or make hastey decsions in attmept to control the world around them and do anything and everything to put some sort of logic to an unlogical world. Like he states they dont know what there doing. "i want to be like water and never have a doubt and reflect what is around my pool" great line and really sums up the song well. |

| Bright Eyes – Cleanse Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Winds dont die they just keep moving, and there older than all thoughts all emotions all humans and situations. So when your head becomes clouded remeber there is nothing more natural than the ground your standing on and the air your breathing its been around forever and its seen every life... "Many lifetimes have passed in a instant reminded Of a millstone house in a seaside town When your heart gave out in a mission bed" Its the one thing that never ages and never changes. In such a modern manmade world there is nothing more amazing than what is not. Thats what I took from this song anyways. |

| Bright Eyes – Classic Cars Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think its about learning from someone that is not perfect and not the smartest (this is why he sorta critizes her for not telling the truth ect.) and in return he has a different take on his inpending death, and a better view on how to live his life. | |
| Bright Eyes – I Must Belong Somewhere Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I have a different take on this song... I think its about having to accept the world to some degree to stay sane and basicaly not to worry and be mad at everything and everyone because some things belong where they are and although we can change the world we will drive outselfs crazy thinking about every little thing. This is why he uses big examples to small examples. So basically to be happy you cant be concerned with every little aspect of the world or you will go insane just thinking about it. And he realizes that with himself. So rather he hates where he is or love it he belongs there right now. |

| Wilco – Ashes of American Flags Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
From what sugarxspice08 said it makes sense to me what this song is about for the most part. Hes realizing the bravery that people had for burning the american flag not that he agrees with it. Just the fact that he stands back and realizes what epic courage and character it takes to do something crazy like that. In return it makes him question his life and where its going. And hes wishing he had that courage. So when he says he says "I would like to salute the ashes of American flags" Hes really saluting staying true to yourself and following your own path even if he himself cant do that. |

I think this song has a very general meaning to it. Hes asking questions to someone about there life overall hes asking did you find what you were looking for in life..after all you went through after every memory every face you met or word you spoke did you find that meaning to your life. Whoever it is answers no, and in a self reflective state he puts the world in perspective for himself and that person... "Did you find what you were looking for? Oh, I just don't care anymore. It's a free world. Go out and be an artist." Hes saying be free dont worry if you have not found it yet because deep down you can be anywhere and anyone you want at anytime... amazing song im loving it. |

| Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
To me this is song about a guy who is annoyed where he lives and moves out as well. Near the end of the song he asks who does he have to meet and what does he have to do. I think he means what experiences does he have to go through to understand the world. He doesnt want cheap answers and he wont take them by stating " I won't pretend To understand the movement of the wind Or the waves out in the ocean" He doesnt want to be another fool that makes assumptions about the world and finally he states how his painfull self awareness of this problem is taking its toll by stating "I tread softly, slowly, plainly, blindly, oh me!" Yah this song is freakin amazing |
