| Jimmy Eat World – Drugs Or Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I absolutely adore this song, but there is one thing i've always wondered, in the line "Keep my heart somewhere drugs don't go Where the sun shines low" is it "where the sun shines low" OR "where the sunshine slows"??? Either make sense really, and i always caught just a slight "s" sound at the end of the line, which makes me think it could be "sunshine slows"? Might be wrong, but just a thought.. |

Wow. I only heard this song today, and I'm already in love with it. This song reminds me of myself, and I can just picture my friends saying this sort of stuff to me, a few of them already do, makes me cry almost everytime i hear it, but i've still got it pretty much on repeat. Love it. Clearly the singer is singing to one of his friends who is depressed and trying to solve the problem by drinking, and the singer is worried about his friend and trying to help him/get him to get help. Fairly self explanatory, but a brilliant song. |

| The Format – The First Single Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I love this song, it's the first song I ever heard by The Format and I fell in love with it instantly. I always felt that it was about being somebody that you're not, in an attempt to be what everyone wants you to be. It's as if somebody's spent all their time trying to fit into a mould, to be who everyone thinks they are, and they've finally gone 'stuff it' and given up. 'I hate what I've become' is them realising that they're not themselves anymore. It's as if they've been wearing a mask and they've finally realised it, and they hate it. They hate the person that they've become to make everyone happy. 'You know me, or you think you do' is again about the mask. About everyone thinking that they know this person, whereas they don't known them at all. 'I've been waiting all this time to be something I can't define' is about the person trying so hard to fit into what everyone else wants. They don't know what they've been trying to become, it's just what people want. 'I've just gotta get myself over me' is them saying that they have to stop focusing on who they are. They have to stop thinking about who they're meant to be, according to society, and just be themselves. *shrugs* that's always what I got out of it, although that's probably because that's how I felt when I first started listening to it..oh well. Great song. |
