this reminds me of someone who cuts themselves. those people come close to suicide. don 't open up for anyone. it never hurts them, but it doesn't work to kill them either. it also doesn't work to solve the pain that they are trying to make go away. it makes sense with the scratching word too. everyone around the person sees the person bleeding and wants to know why they are hurting so badly and wants to help so bad..... but realizes that the person themselves is the only one who knows what happened and all they can do is be there for when the person is ready to reach out for help. that's why he says "you're the only one who'll ever know" and "no one expects you to get up on your own". he wants to be there for her. usually cutters isolate and feel like NO ONE is like them and they fear asking for help because no one can help them anyway.... so they try to take away their own pain. and risk killing themselves almost everytime. |

this whole song talks about getting off drugs and has so many 12-step messages in it......... how dangerous it is to be in your head.... and how even when you're clean you can use other people (girls) to get out of yourself. (especially when you have such low self esteem) and JUST FOR TODAY........ |
