I'm not sure if the song is about a floor, but according to my mother (who is a big CCR fan), there WAS a flood in Virginia several decades ago near Nelson County & CCR donated proceeds from this song to help the victims of the flood. |

I think it's about an emotionally abusive relationship. I don't think it's physical because it says "Sometimes subtle sometimes clear
And the ones that go unnoticed
Still leave their Mark once disappeared ".
Emotional abuse can leave it's own "scar". |

I think it's about giving up hope. The singer is looking around & seeing all the bad stuff happening around them. She's also sorta blaming herself for letting all the bad stuff happen (But life is so cruel, cuz I let it be). So I think it's about missed opportunities also.... she might have had some opportunities to improve her life, but let them pass her by. |

I think it's about a lost love or an old friendship. In the beginning of the song, the singer seems a bit embarrassed of the past (hiding postcards & picture frames in a desk), but yet reminiscent because they've held on to all those things. I think the chorus is actually the singer telling herself to keep her head up & things will get better on their own... just let things fall into place instead of forcing them (Good things come when you stop looking). |

I don't think it's about any particular battle of the Civil War, although it's true that Antietam did have the most casualties. But you have to remember that this song is sung from the perspective of someone in the battle, so with all the blooshed going on around them, it could be possibly any battle of the war. Traumatic situations always seem much longer than they really are. |

PlutonianDoll, another thing I heard about Waylon Jennings is that Buddy was joking around with Waylon saying that he hoped he froze on the bus, and Waylon joked back to Buddy saying, "Well I hope your plane crashes". That's really sad. It crushed Waylon for the longest time... he felt horrible for saying it. |

To jestersdead, I don't think 50's music will ever become mainstream again. Things tend to repeat themselves every 20 years (that's why flared-leg pants came back in the late 90s), but it's been so long & 50s music still isn't popular. I think new generations will keep being introduced to the music, but it'll never be super popular unfortunately :( |

Peggy Sue is a real person though. I saw her being interviewed with Donna Ludwig (Valens's girlfriend). |

Self explanatory.... he's lost his girl & his waiting for her to come back. He's not taking the break up very well.
And why is nobody commenting about his songs??? |

The Grey Walrus.... practically every song out there is a love song, and most of them are about heartbreak. That doesn't mean it's emo. And Buddy was wearing "emo" glasses long before these little emo losers started wearing them. I think that's really offensive to say Buddy Holly is emo. |

Yeah, it's obviously about a person who is not ready to die yet & is afraid & asking death not to take them away.
I've heard variations of this song though... at least 1 other version besides this one, possibly 2. It's an old folk song. Beautiful too!! |

This song is about a guy who's tired of dealing with all the stress & mind games that his wife or girlfriend is putting him through. He keeps saying, "You've constructed this maze. It's your design". So maybe he thinks that his girl ENJOYS tormenting him & now he's ready to walk away from it all. |

I agree Janos.... this sounds like something the Beatles would sing. It has a very "old-school" sound to it. Awesome though!!! |

I agree with Detroit_Hammer.... Jack & Renee' seemed like total opposites. She was into the fame, interviews, & red carpet events of Hollywood & that's just not Jack's style. He's kinda low-key.... not interested in all the superficial "Who are you wearing" baloney of Hollywood. |

To the people saying it's about the anger he has for Renee' - I heard that they are still friends (he even consoled her after he divorce from Kenny). Although I've never heard any direct quote about this from Jack, I don't think the song's about Renee'.
And Brycec3.... you said he's a "purist", but there's some talk going around which seems to think otherwise.
Personally, I think this song is about someone's innocence being lost (not necessarily in "that" way, but just in general). Maybe some naive person got tricked into doing something & now they have regret. When people are sad, sometimes they say that they're feeling "blue". |
