I gotta agree that the chorus does sound like the All-American Rejects's "I'm Waiting", but i think it's still a pretty good song. but i enjoyed the rest of the album... i can't exactly figure out what this song means.... i think it's just a little bit of everything |

Well, first of all, this song is definately one of the "deep thinking" ones. Michelle really but a lot into this song. in my point of view, it's like two definately close friends. they were always there forn eachother and everything. but when the guy gets a g/f, then the girl finally realizes, she loves him, she wanted to be much more than friends. and... i guess she's way too late. it's something like "take your chances", and that's a statement i can definately relate to. |

actually, i really like this song. and i kinda disagree (to the other comments, sorry to say)... i think it's about just simply getting away from the world, faking who she was and didn't show her true self with "And if I ever could have faked it" and "I never wanted to be what they even wanted me to be" to support it. so yea, simply getting away. :) |

actually, i don't think that's the full lyrics... there's more to it. the origional version is called "Dark Carnival" and it's a bit different. i actually like this song, i believe it might be released in her new albulm. well... it's hard to explain, but once u listen to the song many times, it's easier to get the message :) |

I simple just luv this song! it's one of my favs of Vanessa Carlton. some people don't understand what this song means, but after a while, it'll make sense. but to me, there are two ways of looking at this song. one - it's an unwanted relationship and especially when she says "Mother don't" she adresses to how she doesn't approve it, but then Vanessa says "And you say we're too young
But maybe you're too old to remember" she refers to how her mother might be in the same situation when she was younger. two - it's a rocky relationship between the guy and the girl. he pretends he doesn't really recall anything they've been through like precious moments together. he doesn't feel like how she feels, but she believes that they could be more than friends, and on the other side, it's a relationship that everyone judges on, but at the end, he actually likes her back, but doesn't show it. (fine, that's what happened to me and that's how i relate to the song, but u gotta admit, it works :)... gosh i write a lot :) |
