This song really takes me back. In those days the radio was on and it was the soundtrack of my life. I have so many memories that surface when I hear a song from "back in the day" it's almost overwhelming at times! Sometimes it's not even memories, just feelings. More often than not, it's got next to nothing to do with what the song is even about, it just happened to be playing in the background during some pivotal, coming of age event. |

Yeah, that sounds like a dream vacation to me! I believe it is a parable about his life. No matter where you go, there YOU are. Even in paradise it's possible to screw up your life.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this song! But the lyrics "times are hard" pretty much say it all. That you can't escape you character defects by running away. |

This song sounds just like my life. I have the most wonderful girlfriend I've ever had. I love her so much and our lives have crossed paths many times since we were just kids. It's incredible how my broken path has lead me to her. I wouldn't trade any of the pain and heartbreaks I've been through because they have lead me to her. This song is ESPECIALLY meaningful to me because of something I just can't tell all of you here, but she'll know if she ever reads this.

Wow! I never knew the smack connection. After carefully reading the lyrics it makes perfect sense.
I've always loved this song. I always thought it was about the feeling some woman gave me. I was sort of confused by the female vocals. I also had no idea this was a cover.
I've known some women that left me feeling as I imagine heroin would. I never got a chance to try that one when I was out there shooting it up.

Summer 2006, meaning: Life. I hope I can take these words to heart. I believe the message they carry. Sometimes my actions don't always reflect that I have faith in the messenger. In fact today 9/1/2006 is the first time I've ever known what that last verse says. |

I first heard this song while watching the movie "Sliding Doors." In the context of the movie I would have to agree and have always agreed with RainyDayBoy's interpretation.
