Nothing about a fish... it is: "If I told you you're beautiful, could I finish in your mouth" |

Expanding on the whole Samson and Dalilah idea I think the "holy fingers" is referencing the gift of Herculean type strength bestowed on Samson by God. I think the "bad charm" is Dalilah. "Been rubbing a bad charm" is saying how he got sexually involved with her. And on the snake comment. What is believed is that snakes had legs of a sort, something that kept them off their stomachs, originally. After the snake temped and deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden God cursed the serpent to crawl on its belly. This reference to the snake in the song might be relevant in the way that like the snake's tempting of Eve caused the down fall of Adam and Eve, Dalilah serves as the "snake" in this stody, her temptation causing the downfall of Samson. The story of Samson has always been my favourite bible story. Great story, amazing song. |

| Rilo Kiley – Does He Love You? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the narrator has loved him and been willing to be dedicated all along, loved him enough to wait for him to come to her. And at first her friend didn't know what she wanted (I am flawed if I'm not free ), but strung him along regardless, not willing to give him her love and dedication completely but not ready to let him go completely, and eventually marrying him just so she didn't run out of time and end up alone (which I think also in a way justifies the narrator being emotionally involved with him). It's sad because the friend changed her mind, and he stayed with her, even though the narrator never had the same doubts as her friend, and always loved him completely, and was willing to wait. She waited in vain because her faultless love and dedication got her no where. Even though she is the other women I feel a lot of empathy for her, I feel like I've been her before. | |
| Beulah – Don't Forget to Breathe Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I think regardless of him claiming "I don't need your love" he really feels like he does needs her love, and needs her to breath (the title...). I really think a part of him left with her, but I also think he let it all wash over without a fight, and gave himself over to complete hopelessness. (The moon will die but is it worth me trying?) It just feels to me like he doesn't have any fight left in him, even though he is still silently mourning by himself. I think he is trying to convince himself he doesn't care, but really it's taken a huge part of him and left him emty (It's only air that you feel in your chest). I think if he really didn't care this song wouldn't even exist. It is such a beatiful song. |

| Islands – Rough Gem Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song is being way over analyzed. Do like the song says, "dig deep but don't dig too deep". When you over analyze you are totally missing the point of this music. It is ingenious, but at the same time their songs don't make a big deal of themselves. This is why I love them, for not selling messages of overrated emotions like love and the other crap most modern music contains. Not every song has to have a "point" or "message". Just enjoy how clever and amazing it is! Thinking about it too much just makes it lose that bit of it's magic. |
