| Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I hate this song with a passion. It's, like, wigger-max. It scares the shit out of me. But every time I hear it, I think: "Classic. Stupid people." And end up listening to it anyway just because it's kind of catchy... And really, like, funny, in a stupid. | |

| Ditto, sort of. All these songs are stupid. There's no meaning behind the lyrics. They fuck up the English language even more, then make the entire population stupid, and STD-prone. | |

| Modest Mouse – I Came as a Rat (Long Walk Off a Short Dock) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Goodness, some of you are idiots. The meaning of this song can be pretty generalized with every lyric. Isaac is speaking about the theories on religion, reincarnation, etc. There are so many. He makes fun of them all by saying taboo, silly things like: 'I came as a whore' Is that not one of the strangest religious belifes? Of course it's not, no religion belives that, really. He's basically saying how idiotic these belifes are, and showing us with his own, taboo parodies to these belifes. That's all. |

| Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Mousefan is totally right. This is a song about pessimism, not optimism. Isaac Brock is making fun of people that always look upwards, even when things just keep going badly. That and the fact that most people try to see that good in everything that happens to them. What about the bad stuff? The bad things had so much more impact on your life, so why not look at them? Stop being so ridiculous. Life sucks sometimes, get over it. | |

| And you all should stop thinking these songs are about relationships. That's really not any concern of Isaac Brock's. And, if it is, he certainly would not sing about it. His lyrics go much farther beyond such silly human emotions. Don't disgrace him by saying 'I think this song is about a girl.' It's not. Deal with it. | |

I think this song is about social culture, and how we breath in Dramamine. (Religion.) The more of this stuff we breath in, the more warped our views become, though it makes traveling through life much more easier, thinking that there are so many things you can count on in this life and, supposedly, after you die. 'Feeling spaced breathing out listerine' This could mean expressing your newly found religion to society, preaching. People are reassured. In a way, it's a -breath of fresh air-, being told that there is so much that you can count on when you believe these things. 'You've killed the better part of me' I think this really could mean that Isaac believes, like most Atheists, that the mind is the best part of anyone, really, and once you become religious, it's no longer free to explore. Your ideas are limited to what your messiah supposedly told you. I think 'If you could just milk it for everything' kind of goes along with that. Perhaps Isaac is saying that you should use your mind for all it's worth, don't just settle for one theory, an assinine one at that! I believe it frustrates him that people are so naive. 'But I still can't focus on anything'... I think this may mean that he is unable to think about anything clearly, because he has experienced too much of these 'breaths of fresh air', and can't form his own conclusion because of that. I'm not very sure about what that part really means though. 'We kiss on the mouths and still cough down our sleeves' This could be showing the actual thoughts of people, and that they confrm to this religion, but still have their doubts. They share this breath, but still don't really feel it's something they can accept completely. 'Look at your face like you're killed in a dream' Perhaps this is something he's actually telling people to do, maybe not. If so, it could be saying 'look at yourself. Your mind has been killed in this little dream, this sub-reality that you call religion.' 'And you think you've figured out everything' This, I believe, is an almost disgusted message, saying 'you think you've figured out reality, but all you've been doing is living in a dream?' Either that, or he's laughing at the situation, which is much more in his character, from what I know of him. 'I think I know my geometry pretty damn well' I had a very long discussion with a friend of mine a couple years ago about this part of this song. To this day, I really can't tell you what it means, but I do have a theory. I think that Isaac is simply saying that he knows what has made him. He knows that no god made him, and he should know that about himself. He may believe that no one should be telling him what he is made of. 'You say what you need so you'll get more' Perhaps this means that people say whatever they need, whether it's complementing a person or advertising their god to the world to get into heaven. To get more out of their 'afterlife'. The rest, same repeated stuff... Just shifted a bit because of the previous lyrics. But I'm still a little shaky on the meaning of a few of these lyrics. |

It seems that most songs don't have much meaning besides something about humans, and how ridiculous their belifes, morals, etc. are, or how ridiculous religion is. But, hey, when you analyze everything, a bit like Isaac Brock, what else is left? My personal thoughts on this piece are a little different. Probably because of my abstract, idiotic thinking. I really think the this is a song about religion, and foolish people. God doesn't like you, because you sin. I mean, really, he sends you to Hell for it, right? God is a bird, all gods are birds, and we are the worms. We dislike God. He keeps us hostage, trapped in a world where we can't sin, we can't make ourselves happy, because he'll send us to Hell for it. We don't get along, so why do we keep trying? Why do we keep believing in him? All he does is restrain us from what comes naturally to us humans, so why try to be loving of him? 'And we will crawl.' I'm not very sure about the meaning of this. I have a couple theories, but they might seem more ridiculous than what I 'deciphered' earlier. It may mean that we will soon abandon our religious belifes, once we are out of sight of the birds, once we 'crawl' far enough away from our God. Another one, even more strange, is that maybe, if we crawl, we will grow independent, we will become strong, and feel that we are strong enough to move away from our God. Or... Something like that. |

| Modest Mouse – Ocean Breathes Salty Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Modest Mouse is the band that really fufills the occupation of being a band mentioned on this website. Their lyrics are meaningful, full of metaphors to decipher, and so much more. My belife, something I'm fairly sure about, is that in this song, Isaac moarns the death of his close and personal friend. As someone said earlier. He reflects on his own belifes in: 'Collected my belongings and I left the jail. Well thanks for the time, I needed to think a while. I had to think awhile. I had to think awhile.' Jail, I think, is a metaphor for the period in his life when he was confused, and is now leaving his cell after he 'thought a while'. Not really sure about that though, as silly as it seems. Another thing someone said, that I totally agree with, is that he makes fun of people who are unsure of their belifes, yet continue to believe blindly, and waste their minds on such foolishness. 'The ocean breathes salty, won't you carry it in? In your head, in your mouth, in your soul.' The evidence is there, and it's not too pretty, it's plain and simple. It's bitter, it's salty, your messiah doesn't exist. Won't you except it? Something along those lines, yeah. Then again, I was never very good at deciphering lyrics. That's all my input for now. |
